Tre Torri Station (located in Piazza Tre Torri, CityLife area) presents "The Gallery", a project by Italian insurance group Generali that aims to reinterpret the concept of underground station: not only a dynamic urban crossroads but a constantly evolving public exhibition space that hosts the works of new and emerging artists. Their works explore people, their stories and their dreams.

Moreno De Turco and his artworks
Moreno De Turco is an artist with a versatile creative personality. For The Gallery, he has recreated the daily habits of commuters who take the underground to get from one point to another of the city, creatively expressing the findings of market research conducted by the TNS. Moreno De Turco was born in 1987 and at the age of 23 he held his first exhibition, entitled "Piracy", which was a viral success. In 2014 he presented a social-awareness project, entitled "Smok-ink", painting a canvas measuring 60 square metres with ink extracted from 4,000 cigarettes. He currently works as a sculptor in Brazil.

ITALIAN State Railways (FS) confirmed on June 9 that it has acquired a 36.7% stake in Milan Metro Line M5 concessionaire Metro 5 from Astaldi, making it the lead shareholder in the consortium

The transaction, which is worth €64.5m, has been approved by the Italian Authority for Markets and Competition.

The deal reduces Astaldi’s stake in Metro 5 to 2%. The other shareholdings remain unchanged - Ansaldo STS holds 24%, ATM 20%, Alstom 9.4% and Hitachi Rail Italy 7.6%

I am looking for some information on actual condition of interurban trams in Milan. As I understood, only two lines survived till 21st century: Milano - Limbiate line and Milano - Desio line. The first one is shortened to the last subway station but it is still in use. Having chcecked it on google street view, I have thought that the second one (Desio line) must have been abandoned in recent years.

What is the future of this line? I have came across some information on italian web sites that it could be refurbished but I am not sure if I understood it well.

And the second question - about all interurban tram lines in Milan. What is their general condition?

The current situation of the traditional interurban trolley lines in Milan is fairly simple:

- The Desio line has been "suspended" since October 1st, 2011, while theoretically a replacement light rail to Seregno was supposedly being built; work on that planned light rail never started and the line is currently served by buses; long stretches of tracks have been removed and the line is abandoned;

- The Limbiate line has been suspended too - beginning on June 12th, 2017 - to allow maintenance to be performed on the tracks and on the rolling stock (the line employs 3-car locked trains assembled from previously built rolling stock between 1961 and 1964, all in relatively poor conditions, plus some historic fleet of 85-92 series "Reggio Emilia", though rarely used); reopening is scheduled for sometime in September 2017;

As for your second question, the other interurban lines in Milan are all extensions of urban lines and both their infrastructure and rolling stock are those in use for city service. The lines which are currently crossing Milan's city limits into the neighboring towns are the 15 line (to Rozzano) and the 31 line (to Cinisello Balsamo). An extension to Opera of the 24 line is also planned but not under construction.
