WOW! Now that's poor workmanship! Thanks for sharing & I'm afraid I'll need to take my comments back after seeing the shonky finishes!

What pissed me off even more was the staff. Management must be based at KLIA as the staff are useless and lazy. Had to wait ages to get through passport control as the guy was constantly texting on his phone, not a good look for tourists entering the country. This goes for all staff, get off your mobiles in public.

KUL Terminal 2 Overview at night:

And from today, you can also talk about Kuala Lumpur's other airport, Subang.

Will Etihad do a bacon sandwich for that price? I didn't think so.

tullamarine I don't think Etihad (or Emirates for that matter) will do a bacon sandwich at any price!!! Qantas customers on Sydney/Melbourne-London lost bacon from the breakfast menu following the Emirates alliance.

It's been quite some time coming too... I'm really looking at unifying some threads here so that we can have a more efficient way of discussing airports from all over the world.

I wouldn't call it ungrateful. I think they were expecting so much more than what they got, what with the inflated cost and repeated delays incurred in the KLIA2 project (I'd prefer to call it Terminal 2, some actually think KLIA2 is a brand new airport! )

I'll be honest though, I wouldn't put the blame solely on MAHB for the inflated price tag. Yes, they had unwisely sought some rather incompetent contractors, but on the other hand, a rather peculiar demand by Tony Fernandes couldn't have helped keep costs down: wanting the third runway to be A380 ready. The largest plane the AirAsia group operates is an A330, with only the A350 XWB on the way. That can't possibly require an A380 standard runway!

An acquaintance at MAHB says they are aware of the shonky fitting of pillars into the ceilings and the problems with the footprints on the whitewalls, they will eventually implement a maintennace regime to maintain cleanliness on par with KLIA1 and to cover those horrendous gaps/poor fittings. As usua, will take time Malaysan style...take it easy.

There are still alot of work at KLIA2. The installation the walkalators will make things more unpleasant for a year.

Despite the shortcomings, KLIA2 is a necessity looking at current pax through KLIA with double digit growth in 2013 even wth the old cowshed LCCT. Better this shonky behemoth than the previous cowshed.

Finally, the Subang Airport thread (last activity: November 2012) has been closed and merged with this thread. You can finally discuss both airports here without any worries.

Bulgaria's BH Air to fly Sofia - Kuala Lumpur route

Bulgarian air carrier BH Airlines will operate a Sofia - Kuala Lumpur - Sofia route. The line was agreed between Bulgaria and Malaysia back in 1970. The airline has six months to begin operations, the press office of the Council of Ministers informed.

The appointment of the Bulgarian air carrier to connect the aviation markets of Bulgaria and Malaysia will contribute to increasing passenger traffic to and from these countries, will create conditions to increase revenue from the carriage of passengers and goods and will enhance trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Malaysia, including Southeast Asia and the Pacific, said the study.

BH Air was founded in 2001 and began operations in January 2002 with flights from Sofia for needs of the UK tour operator "Balkan Holidays" - London.

In 2007 after the work with Virgin Group and gaining experience, BH Air participated in the creation of a new airline in Sri Lanka - Mihin Lanka.

In July, 2014 the airline add the first Airbus A330 (LZ-AWA). The aircraft will be used for direct long-haul flights from Sofia to cities in the United States such as New York and Chicago. From the Spring of 2015 the company will start regular flights from Sofia Airport to New York and Chicago.

The question is, which aircraft will it use to operate long-haul flights? I mean, I recall that BH Air mainly operates within Europe, and it will need to either wet-lease long-haul aircraft to operate such services... and it is interesting that it selected KUL as a destination.

AirAsia A320-200, "Line App" (reg. 9M-AHR)

They've leased an A330-200 which actually used to fly for MH back in 2004. Authorities in Bulgaria have been approving a list of interesting routes, one of them being SOF-ALA-PEK.
