KLIA2 looks like won't be able to complete on time. Thus explaining the delay to the earliest opening in Oct 2012.

SEPANG - Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd.

To Moscow direct, with Transaero

Transaero is the sole airline from Russia to operate to Kuala Lumpur with one flight weekly.

KUALA LUMPUR: Air travellers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport can now fly to Russia direct with the debut of Transaero Airlines.

Transaero, Russia's second largest airline made its maiden landing in KLIA on Saturday. It is the 57th airline serving Kuala Lumpur.

Transaero is the sole airline from Russia to operate to Kuala Lumpur with one flight weekly. It flies every Friday from Moscow and on Saturdays from Kuala Lumpur using Boeing 777 aircraft with 306 seats configuration.

According to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the Moscow-KL direct air link is a result of relentless marketing effort and Tourism Malaysia's aggressive promotion.

Transaero has been operating charter flights to KLIA for the last few years. The airline has created sufficient market demand on this route for it to start scheduled operations.

"Transaero service opens a new market for us and we wish them all the best for their operations to Kuala Lumpur. We look forward for the airlines to stabilise and strengthen their operations to Kuala Lumpur and hopefully, increase their frequency to KLIA soon," MAHB managing director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad said in a statement.

He added that it is MAHB's close cooperation and relationship with Tourism Malaysia as well as the Ministry of Transport's pro-business policies that brought the airline from Russia to Malaysia.

"I anticipate that this strong partnership will continue to reap more success in terms of attracting more airlines to Malaysia."

Transaero's service will provide convenient access between Kuala Lumpur and Moscow and expand two-way trade, investment and tourism for both countries.

In 2011, besides Transaero, KLIA has welcomed Air Koryo and Lion Air, while Egypt Air made a comeback to KLIA.

Transaero operates to major Russian cities and is also the leading carrier to Kazakhstan.

Its network covers many European destinations such as Austria, Cyprus, England, Germany, Greece, Israel and Spain. Transaero also operates flights to major Asian countries like China, Japan, Thailand and India.

Exclusive brandy collection only at KLIA
Thursday January 5, 2012
http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.as...50&sec=central

Good stuff: The Martell Millesimes Collection is available
exclusively at duty-free outlets in KLIA.

MALAYSIA’S premier airport retailer, Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd has made available the first expression of its Millésimes Collection exclusively at its duty-free outlets in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd general manager Muhammad Fawzy Ahmad said, “We are proud to not only be the only retailer in Malaysia to offer this unique chance to experience the Millésimes Collection, but also to be one of the two retailers in the Asia-Pacific region to make this available.”

The Millésime 1968 is carefully selected by Cellar Master Benoit Fil from Martell’s oldest cellar built in 1833, the Chais de la Coquille.

It is a rare single eau de vie from the Grande Champagne area, a land known for its powerful and structured eaux de vie.

“We would like to invite duty-free travellers to take the opportunity to savour this exclusive collection, especially at the start of the new year,” he said.
