To be honest the banner is pretty bad.. I voted 5 nonetheless because I am biased.

The previous one of Merca looked much better.

It needs to be within the size you see above and have permission by it's original photographer.

If you have any potential banners, just tell me or post it in the banners thread in the About the forums section. They aren't going to come on their own.

The problem isn't Somalia being on the banner more than it should. It's moreso the fact that the African forumers don't make banners in large numbers. Other than Somalia, the only African countries I've seen on the banner in the 2011 are: Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, and DR Congo. Maybe South Africa too, I don't remember.

You need to acknowledge the source.

The pic on the banner had the guy who posted it on Wikipedia as the source.

It seems like the whole country suffers from this stereotype, even though there are no pirates near Barawa.

Luanda has been shown twice (on the same month) this year. I sent a new banner for the third time but it was denied cause the image was "all rights reserved". I need to wait till Augustus when I finally get to Luanda so that I can make my own pictures.

As for those who asked for banner requirements here they are.

Name: City, Country
Source: from where did you get your image and by who was it photographed? like if you got it from flickr you should include the nickname of the guy's flickr profile.
Description: describe what you're seeing in the image [quite useless but...]

Also make sure it's not repeated. here is the banner archive,

Ahh, they also mostly accept skyline or cityscapes. but I'm sure other type are rarely accepted too

Finally you must resize your image to 719px in width by 123px in height and it's resolution has to be 72dpi.

The resolution thing is photshop's default so usually you don't have to worry about it. Also if anyone need a resizing help or maybe photo adjustments, I can do that for you
