This thread is to discuss the upcoming Wonders of the World Cup. First matchup is on July 7.

after 2007 this wonder from our country is no longer become a world wonder. They kick it out, because less of popularity compared mexican Itza, Rio's Jesus statue, Taj etc...
but for me this is still one of the ultimate world wonder...

I like worldcups but i dont like this one.

The whole new 7 wonders is a joke to begin with. Structures were judged based on personal feelings (they are soo proud that they encouraged kids to vote) and the buildings with the most propoganda won (seriously, who would prefer the Christ Redeemer over the statue of liberty.... isnt that just.... weird?). For me, a list of new 7 wonders should be made by a selective group of proven individuals who are experts when it comes to the history, complexity, popularity, purpose etc of those structures.

Ahh well, lets wait for the next worldcup

and trust me...if u have ever seen both...u would agree with me that the statue of liberty is cool... but the jesus stands out alot more...and fits perfectly!!!

but it's just my non expert opinion...

Definitely agree with you. I don't want to offend any Brazilians or Christians here (or even Brazilian Christians lol) but I honestly don't think Christ the Redeemer should even be a "wonder." There's so many they passed over that are far more deserving...the Acropolis, Bamyan Buddhas, Easter Island Statues, Notre Dame, the Sphinx, etc.

Also, having both Chichen Itza and Machu Picchu in there seems like overkill, I don't know why. Chichen Itza is amazing but Machu Picchu isn't that
impressive.

If your gonna name something a 'wonder' of the World, then it must have been something revolutionary right? I sure do like the the Christ Redeemer but calling it a wonder is something else all together.

To me, a wonder is something that revolutionized the world. The pyramids, the parthenon and many more i dont know the explicit details of did this.

To me, a wonder is... a wonder. Is not "size" or "history", is just a wonder. For his creativity, beauty, location,
