Drakensberg Mountains

The Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa or uKhahlamba (the Barrier of Spears) is a 200-kilometre-long mountainous wonderland and world heritage site. The largest proportion of the Drakensberg area falls in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.Combining sheer natural beauty with a wealth of biological diversity, this 243 000 hectare mountainous region known the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park has been preserved and venerated for eons since the San people or bushmen roamed these slopes. Tens of thousands of paintings depicting their daily life can be found on the rock faces, and in December 2000, the park received international recognition and was declared KwaZulu-Natal's second World Heritage Site.If you prefer the gentler, more leisurely pace of walking the many hiking routes on both lower and upper slopes of the Drakensberg, you can watch out for the 290 species of birds, 48 species of mammals, or the rare varieties of plantlife found in the park. The Drakensberg ... the soul of the Zulu Kingdom. Drakensberg does not only offer wonderful mountains, sheer natural beauty, plant life and animals it also offers the comfort, luxurious yet affordable Darkensberg accommodation

You're allowed to share things you're working on if it involves development, architecture, urban planning, engineering projects etc. Unfortunately, you are NOT allowed to advertise any arbitrary service or business; this is a development and urban forum. This type of behavior may get you banned.

But perhaps we can use this thread to post photos of the Drakensberg mountains - or start a new thread?
They are absolutely a world wonder and deserve more attention - they are also a HUGE range of mountains with 3000m+ peaks spread over more than 200km.

I was looking at a special book on the Drakensberg in CNA yesterday, and I was blown away by the images and diversity in the range.

Anyone who has access to images, please post...
