Chennai le janango maritangala?Even five years back most of the bars attached to star hotels (no standalone bars and may be pubs in chennai even today)where crowded by people who were from other states and countries the local chennaivasis hardly patronised bars or pubs except for those who went abroad as that was the culture prevailing here then.I haven't been to these places for the past 7 years due to old age and thank U for updating me.BTW some of the bloggers responded to my remarks with burning sarcasm and that is regrettable.

They can allow pubs with Family room ( No Joking it is available in most of the pubs in Bangalore) in Chennai also. So couples wanting to have a peaceful drink can spend quality time rather wasting money in big hotels or taking the pains of taking it home.

Prasanth there was a proposal to sell liquor in supermarkets but very stiff opposition from all sides

The group which you are referring is still struck with Mega TV serial till 11 PM . There is a new group of Chillng out young Chennaivasis influenced by Northies meaning of Chilling out who throng these pubs. Not only restricted to IT, ITES and BPO. But from all lucrative background.

If you have noticed those comments still remain un-deleted. That is even more regrettable.

Yes sir, the times ( and Chennaivasis) are changing as we speak . Btw ...sorry but I did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings here . It was a very general observation about the posts on other sub-forums .Hope you did not take offence to this

In the early 1990's one could buy booze in Spencer Plaza in the Spencer's Supermarket. Sadly that place too closed.

One does not need a drink to do what you have mentioned below. To stop this one has to respect women for what they are. Only then this will stop. All these happens in villages (both north and south) where there is nothing close to entertainment. Pls dont blame the pubs and night cubs wholly for this. Pls dont generalize.

There is a tasmac in Spencer plaza phase 1 first floor So ppl can buy booze in the mall.

I think Spencer plaza is the only mall in Chennai with a Tasmac.

Which means it is the only Mall in the world to have Tasmac. Wondering if they to sell and serve there itself.

Could be a genuine doubt .....as hospitality is entrenched in their culture .... the Japanese women are considered to be great hosts . The geishas were world famous
