Can anyone advise me how to post photographs as attachments? Forum rules prohibit me from doing so. I thought that was the whole purpose???

Listed Scala cinema frontage demolished.

http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...dozed-at-last/

The council posted it on Facebook but deleted it after getting ~100 negative comments!

Skyline from July 2008.

Almost 4 years later.

Shame about the tree blocking the new Molineux and other buildings.

From today's chronicle,

Next step of the Wolverhampton Interchange. Four shop/restaurant units to be created opposite the bus station entrance, with office space for 100 workers above it.

Fox Hotel Demolition

Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbvuvGxD8rY

Replacement is an extended, but properly tarmaced, car park, while a deal is done for a new use on the land.

Initially proposed was a Hilton hotel:

Pipe Hall, Bilston - Auction

http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...er-the-hammer/

Pipe Hall, Bilston, is up for auction at only £94,000. Grade II listed.

Article on the hall:

http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/stafford..._pipehall.html

(Incidentally it's Pipe Hall, named after the Pipe family, not "The Pipe Hall" as oft quoted)

Bellway Homes want to knock down Springfield Cottage, Fordhouses Wolverhampton to build a four bedroom house. Such a lovely place, it was a working farm until they started this development, we used to play there as kids (the farmer let us play in the conker trees at the back. Had a tyre swing and everything.) Was sad to see the cricket field go, but the cottage? That would be terrible.

They didn't even do enough research to realise every street in the area is named after a racecourse. They've named that bastard "oval drive".

Pipe Hall, Bilston

Pipe Hall is up for auction - for £94,000. That's incredibly cheap for what is there.

Hi, dies anybody know what is happening with the drill hall? It's being refurbished inside and out for something.

Rumours on Facebook that the varsity is closing to become a reception for the university. I doubt varsity will pull out of the city - they started here iirc - maybe they'd move into the drill hall?

Can anyone confirm either?

University bid for Wolverhampton’s Varsity pub
Tuesday 8th May 2012, 5:00PM BST.

A landmark city centre pub would be taken over by the University of Wolverhampton and turned into a grand reception area, under new plans being drawn up.

Talks are currently ongoing to transform The Varsity from a popular live music venue into a new entrance for the university. It is not known when the pub will close.

However, the owners of the venue in Stafford Street have confirmed it is on the market.

The pub is separated from the university’s MA building by an alleyway.

John Nightingale, from the Wolverhampton branch of Campaign for Real Ale, said it would be a “great pity” to lose another bar in the city centre.

Last year, Barracuda postponed a planned £150,000 refurbishment of the bar despite it being granted a licence to open an extra hour until 2.30am.

Then, the company had said it was looking to make the venue more appealing to people in their 30s and 40s.

Barracuda was fined £25,000 earlier this year after the Varsity, which is popular with students, was forced to close its kitchen because of a rat infestation.

Mr Nightingale said: “The Varsity has always been a young person’s bar and there is a place for that in Wolverhampton.”

But Councillor Phil Page, Wolverhampton City Council’s cabinet member for skills and learning, said: “It’s always good to hear that a building won’t stand empty. I’m glad the university is interested in buying the building.”

University spokesman James Allen today would not confirm or deny if the university was in talks with Barracuda but bar staff at The Varsity said discussions were ongoing.

Wolverhampton has lost some of its biggest venues over the past few years. In March, nightclub Oceana closed its doors. And in May 2009, Sopranos restaurant shut down.

A couple of photos showing the inside of a new luxury student accomodation block in Wolverhampton.

Complete with a gym, football pitches, basketball courts, allotments, etc...

Cheapest rates in town too. All you have to do is mug someone.

New nightclub opens 1st June in Wolverhampton. No idea what or any of the details, but presumably it's Oceana reopening as a new brand, since that's where I got it from. (Facebook, Save Oceana Wolverhampton)

Piledriver in at Goodyear's starting work on the new Hungry Horse.

Info: http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...promise-house/

Had heard it was planned to open in September but I don't know anything about these things, how long is a new pub going to take to build?

Wolverhampton Mosque has FINALLY been finished over the past couple of days - the breeze blocks have been rendered. Hopefully their god won't get angry and destroy the minaret by wind again I know it's only simple, but it's little things like this that really make a crap looking building look decent.

Goodrich to expand Wolverhampton site

http://www.expressandstar.com/busine...rhampton-site/

This is an old photo - they have already expanded very recently also - the grass at the front is gone and is now buildings.

Behind it is playing fields for Goodrich AFC and Wolves Women; these will probably see the chop then.

IMO they should build a new stadium for Wolves Women just for the hell of it. I know I'd watch them if you didn't have to go through Goodrich and their security guards etc to get to the pitch.
