This is not a £25 million development like the Express and Star say. That is just the council's involvement, there is far more on the way.

The business district and train station costing some £96m I believe, the hotel £15m, Sainsbury's their own development, etc.

Great news for Wolvo.

Some may be wrong or missing. There's a lot missing from it.

Please remember these are only concepts and not final designs.

Notice the beautiful "bridge" over the ring road (or is it just a big crossing?), you can hardly see the ring road's there in this photo!

Amazing news.

Nooo goddamn, they better not replace our playing fields with housing, it's the best aspect of the city!

I live on this route and it's great that they're doing all this, I just hope they keep the things that make it great. All the greenery, etc. If they need houses they should move one of the supermarkets into Summer Row and build houses on the planned patches. Or, Springfield Brewery, or all the other derelict land about the place. Not our playing fields.

They recently took away my local cricket field, replacing it with houses ("The Oval").

Still, development is development, I suppose. They did at one point want the Stafford Road to be signalled all the way instead of islands, but this looks stalled as they're currently just moving the Vine island.

Looking into it what I said was pretty harsh and uneducated. The "park" in question is suitable for housing. It is less of a playing field, more just a field left behind and split up because of the road and two train lines that run through it. A large proportion could be kept as a playing field while still providing much needed housing. The only problem then is the transport issues, which will be resolved when Peel build their supermarket, as the Cannock Road A460 / Stafford Street A449 junction will be becoming a much needed island. I personally would like Fox's Lane to Park Lane (the original alignment of the road which became the A460) to be reinstated as a road, which would further solve transport issues.

I believe this is the land in question but may be wrong: http://goo.gl/maps/DQuh

Priory Green extension

Still not sure what's happening with this building - an extension is being built at the old Junior's entrance, joining onto the Library part of the building. I assume this is a new entrance or something; it's about the size of a few garages and mostly just a cinderblock cube at the moment.

Temporary move

Wolverhampton Council moving into the old Rackhams building on Snow Hill while some changes are done to their original place (I assume they mean the Civic centre).

The Scotlands - £4m health centre

http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...go-on-display/

Plans for a new £4m health centre in the Scotlands. A very neglected neighborhood.

Roadworks

A new bridge is being erected over the M54 (replacing the Middle Lane / Shaw Hall Lane bridge) as part of eventually a new junction. (This is just a single track bridge carrying the lane over the road; the lane's mainly used by walkers and a couple of farmers..)

Work on the replacement / moving of the Vine Island has begun. After some temporary digging up of the car park, they have now fenced off the grass where the island will go, making me think they'll have most of the island done before the former island even needs to close. Smart move I reckon. The shops are having their own private road much like Marsh Lane parade.

New shop in Fordhouses, weird type of shop for the area, but hey, it's all good.

Olive Grove Home Interiors and Gifts has replaced the relocated Harlequinn's Flowers on the Stafford Road. A bit small for that kind of shop I guess? But it's nice to have something different to a Black Cat Fireworks or a fast food joint. Still, there's always the closed bookies to become a Fireworks shop again...

Oxley is having new restrictions on what can go there - less fast food outlets - to try and stop parking along the A449 route. This is part of the £250m plans. Will anything replace them?

Update on Portas

UTC Aerospace Systems (Hamilton Sundstrand)
Have taken over both Goodrich and Marston Aerospace, maybe the two will be joined together across the land inbetween? Very smart signs compared to what they had before.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC_Aerospace_Systems

They were only purchased 26th July, so the speed at which they've changes the signs shows something.. or something. I dunno. Good news for Wolverhampton anyway.

I think Marston has been part of HS for a while?

Nobody tracking this one? New bridge being lifted onto the M54.

http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...into-position/

It's just a wider accomodation bridge for Middle Lane, widened to allow a new junction 2A to be built.

Stuff from the Chronicle:

Raglan Street
Ground works have started on the Sainsbury's store (part of the West side development).

Sunbeamland
Faces being empty for many years to come as funding is denied to Urban Splash.

Wolverhampton African Caribbean Centre
Is being demolished after being empty for seven years. Not sure where this is/was? I assume (hopefully) they do not mean the Newhampton road site.

Tap & Spile
Reopened with a new family owner. I noticed there's one on Broad Street Brum the other day, was a bit shocked!

Incinerator
Plans go in "in the Autumn".

Clutter to go
Wolverhampton street clutter is to go. Anything which isn't a lamp post, telephone box, or mast, that is deemed to be "in the way", is going to be removed.

RE: Bridge, it hasn't been fitted, but has been delivered; it will be lifted into place over the 22nd to 29th August with overnight closures of the M54.

ETA: BBC says August, Express and Star says September...

£1m student union revamp
http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...-union-revamp/

Does anybody know anything about the new Science block supposedly coming from the Wolves training ground development, has it been built, is it proposed, etc? I can't find a thing.

Victoria Hall

A fourth block is being built following the end of a legal battle.

http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...nt-flats-ends/

10 floors I think? The main block (already built) is the tallest modular building in Europe.
