Its actually the AGS, AHS and Miriam GS and HS that's causing traffic along katipunan. Hatid sundo halos lahat ng bata.

naglilipat kami ng gamit sa condo and was intent on taking the katipunan route. grabe ang traffic sa umaga kasi papasok ng ateneo ang mga kotse. Ateneo needs to give up some of its lot facing katipunan for the road expansion.

ang dapat kasi sa ateneo may daanan din sa likod hindi yung lahat nagsisiksikan sa katips. imagine, elementary, high school, college vehicles - isama mo pa dyan yung mga taga-miriam at mga jeep galing UP - hala! recipe for mega traffic talaga!

The Quezon City Council has reclassified a University of the Philippines property into a commercial zone, allowing the area to be developed into a mixed hub for shops and offices.

According to Ordinance No. SP-2160, series of 2012, which was published in newspapers on Friday, the UP Diliman East Campus Property — currently occupied by the UP Integrated School — has been “reclassified from its present zoning classification of Institutional to Special Urban Development Zone.” This is in “view of the redevelopment vision and proposed land uses” for the lot.

Ayala Land, Inc. is currently developing the area, which is along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, into the UP Town Center

“What would change is the permitted uses in the area,” said Quezon City Councilor Ricardo T. Belmonte, Jr., via text on Friday.

With the rezoning, the area can now be used to build retail shops, restaurants, offices, galleries, and recreational facilities.

“Ayala Land will develop it similar to the Ayala Technohub,” said UP President Alfredo E. Pascual, in a phone call on Friday, referring to the UP property along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City which the firm developed under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) agreement.

The old buildings of the UP Integrated School, the current occupant of the property, will be torn down this summer after the school’s offices and classrooms for basic education have been transferred to the new school facilities nearer to the college buildings, said UP Vice-President for Development Elvira A. Zamora, in a phone call. The new school buildings, valued at P260 million, have been donated by the company as part of the BOT deal.

Completion of the project, pegged at P3 billion, has been set for the last quarter of next year, a disclosure by the firm dated Feb. 10, 2011 showed.

And what's the title of your thread again? "UP Diliman East Campus Property Complex (UP Integrated School)"
And whats the title of this thread? ah, UP DILIMAN EAST CAMPUS."

The east campus pertains to that UP IS area that will be made into a mixed-use development with retail and bpo offices. If you read closer the thread is named A.K.A TECHNOHUB 2 because according to the article, it is similar to technohub.


This is the East Campus side which is the same thread as the other one if you even bothered to digest the article. But thanks for rounding up the relevant news articles that excite all of us.

really nice project. I hope UP cut a good deal on this.

One issue though - did Ayala or UP or whoever address the traffic problem that will result from this development? 3 lanes at either direction isn't going to be sufficient. Especially since the road to NLEX via C5 is about to be finished. More trucks will use the road.

I hope they build separate lanes going to UP Town Center. That should some how alleviate the traffic problem.

Anyone familiar with the Ayala UP Town Center mall being constructed along Katipunan Avenue? I'm curious how the actual mall will look like but I can't find much news about it.

Will the remaining UPIS buildings be demolished soon?

In terms of size, anyone have any idea? Perhaps similar to Robinsons Magnolia?

Up town center is currently under construction. there are already structures there but not yet finished. the remaining UPIS building i think will be demolished also since this will be relocated inside the UP Campus. In terms of size i am not sure if it will be of the same size as the Robinsons Magnolia but given that it will be built by Ayala I'm pretty sure that it will turn out nice. i am just hoping that it will not worsen the traffic situation in the area.
