"Momentum builds for new Buffalo train station"

The Buffalo News (http://buffalonews.com/2016/10/25/ch...train-station/)

Central Terminal may be the site of a future Buffalo railway station:

Central Terminal is one potential site being tossed around for a new Amtrak Station. (Derek Gee/Buffalo News)

The whole thing is laughable. There is still no agreement for Amtrak to use the station. Basically, the city built a train station, but the sole railroad serving the city does not desire to use it LOL.

Will Buffalo will have a good future for tourists or do you mean the city could die because of the safety?

Ugh what a mess. I hope Amtrak starts serving it soon, that's too nice a station to just sit there.

IMO trying to revive Buffalo Central as a rail station is quixotic. It would be better if it was renovated into other uses and the surrounding abandoned rail infrastructure was cleared out.

Ya it is a bit on the fringe, it would take a MASSIVE rezoning and Massive LRT expansion to make this viable. Unfortunately the chances of that happening are slim.

BUFFALO | Public Transport

I think that Cuomo should invest in a metro rail extension might help with the constant decrease in Buffalo population.

They can't show you the actual station platform because it looks like it came from a Brio train set.

That is the station. My understanding is that the underground platforms were untouched.

Yeah I was referring to the platform area. I think the above ground portion is beautiful, but my critique was really for everything below the surface.

I was unaware that in 1973 they had "regional corridors" designated. As my user card location suggests, I live near Athol Springs and one of the lines goes right through it. What a difference that would make in the area if we had commuter rail.

"Another Buffalo train station proposal: near current Exchange Street station"

http://buffalonews.com/2016/11/22/se...plan-unveiled/

A proposed passenger rail station located across the tracks from the current Exchange Street station off Washington Street would include a 200-foot-tall tower and a 400-foot-long train shed.
