Indian School of Business @ Hyderabad needs no introduction. It's an International quality project designed by the Famous bureau of John Portman & Associates. Here are a few renderings of this project, which BTW is complete and operational since the past 3 yrs.

The Hyderabad 60 storey tower
Old news of the tower. Any recent news? Please post em here.
City company plans 60-floor skyscraper CH SUSHIL RAO TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2003 01:44:01 AM ] HYDERABAD : India ’s tallest building with 60 floors is being planned in Hyderabad . It is the outcome of the ‘think big, think vertical’ concept. If Gupta’s plans fructify the building would be a reality in five years. But before that Gupta has hurdles to clear. The building needs clearances from the police, the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad , and the fire department. As of now, the tallest building in the city is the Babu Khan Estate at Basheerbagh, which has 14 floors. The tallest building in the country is the 45-storyed Shreepati Arcade in Mumbai. The tower in Hyderabad , being planned by the G S group of companies, was inspired by a 114-floor-tower Gowrishankar Gupta said he saw in Shanghai , China . Gupta said he is considering certain sites in Banjara Hills, Madhapur, and other places for the venture. “People can dine in the restaurant we plan to have on the 60th floor,’’ Gowrishankar Gupta, chairman and managing director of GS group of Companies, which plans to construct the towers, said. We have to think big and do Hyderabad proud, Gupta said. On the sixth floor, there will be a helipad. Plans are to have shops from the 1st floor to the 3rd floor, exhibitions and conventions from the 4th floor to the sixth floor, and from there up to the 10th floor there would be multiplexes. The floors from there up to the 40th floor, will house multinational firms, and from the 40th floor to the 59th floor, will house five-star hotels. On the 60th floor will be a revolving restaurant. Will this be a reality? “We are working towards that. We have already given representations in the government for clearances,” Gupta said. The Hyderabad tower is facing competion from a Mumbai building for the tallest skyscraper status. A 60-storied residential complex is being planned to be constructed by SD Corporation, a venture of Shapoorji Pellonji and Co. and Dilip Thaker. |

After this ambitious announcements 10 months ago, guess what?....This "think bit think vertical" concept seems to be stuck in the neutral gear it seems. We haven't heard anything at all from them so far. unless its a brilliant move to keep this lucrative project in hush hush & wait & see Tardeo towers height after their completion. This way they can beat it rightaway.
Whatever the case may be. Chances are that this project hasn't gotten clearance from either police,or municipal corp. or fire department. |

This is not the first one to do the disappearing act!
Bangalore thought of a 100 storey for some time in 1998.. http://www.rediff.com/computer/1998/feb/04park.htm Rs 4.8b 100-story software facility mooted in Bangalore The Karnataka government has given consent to a Rs 4.8-billion software technology park project. And it is to be housed in the tallest office building in India called Space City. The 360-metre tall 100-storey building would provide 1.6 million square feet of office space on a 60-acre plot on the Hosur Road in Bangalore. Inder R Jaggi, the chief promoter of the project, has said that the complex would provide working space for 20,000 software professionals. Civil construction is expected to commence in June and will be completed in three years. The project is being developed through the debt-financing route. Jaggi said the financing scheme has not been finalised, adding that foreign financial institutions have shown keen interest in investing the project. A few New York-based architects and a British consultant have been shortlisted to work on the project. The state government has given the fast-track status to the project with Karnataka Udyog Mitra assisting the promoters. State government sources say five sites on the Hosur Road have been proposed. And Kolkata had a 50 storey tower to be built by a Singapore company. Singapore firm keen on building Kolkata tower Our Bureau http://www.blonnet.com/2002/11/20/st...2001501300.htm KOLKATA, Nov. 19 CESMA International Pte, a consultancy outfit promoted by Singapore's housing board, has evinced interest in Kolkata's first 50-storeyed building, a project that has also found support from a couple of local players. The building, christened `Gateway to Kolkata', will be a three-way project between Kolkata Municipal Corporation (which will provide the land on the eastern fringe of the city), Srishti Infrastructure Development and Srei International. The last two companies are local entities; so far they have been involved in a number of projects. Cesma International, according to the plan that has been formulated, will be responsible for the project's master planning as well as for its architectural designing, structural engineering and quality surveying. To be owned initially by the Government of West Bengal, the project will feature such amenities as multiplexes, shopping malls and a food court. The entire configuration will come up on a seven-acre land. Sources aware of the development point out that `Gateway to Kolkata' will be the tallest building in the city, surpassing the well-known Chatterjee International (a commercial property) and Tata Centre (the local headquarters of the Tatas). Cesma International is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Housing & Development Board, Singapore. It has expertise in feasibility studies, urban design, landscaping and pre-cast construction technology. Elsewhere in the world, the company has started projects ranging from small-scale ones to townships. Its operations have spanned countries like China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan. At the moment, it is involved in master planning and designing of projects in Shanghai and Beijing. "Cesma also forms part of consortia with prominent local players,'' sources told Business Line, adding that the Kolkata project too will be on similar lines. In India, Cesma has already tied up with the Andhra Pradesh Government for a township on 700 acres of land near Hyderabad. For a Singapore-based company, the AP project is a first of sorts in India. |

Shows that there are several people who wanna build nice talls but are discouraged because of poor infrastructure or not given clearance or halted by activists. Situation could change in a couple of years....

Hyderabads 99 miles 2nd Outer Ring Road Approved
YSR approves proposal for 1,360-crore ring road project
By Our Staff Reporter HYDERABAD, SEPT. 19. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has agreed, in principle, to the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority's proposal for a 159-km second (outer) ring road at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,360 crores. At a review meeting on development of satellite townships in continuation of the massive programme to develop land banks on Saturday, he asked officials to go ahead with land acquisition and put together a detailed project report. He also agreed to HUDA's proposal for developing 22 new mega townships by acquiring 20,000 acres of land. Dr. Reddy sat through a presentation on land development by urban development authorities (UDAs) and municipalities where the suggestion that UDAs acquire land and sell fully developed plots to individuals for housing and other purposes was put forward. Call to identify land In order to kick-start the work, Dr. Reddy is said to have decided that Government vacant lands maybe identified and handed over to the UDAs concerned or urban local bodies. This could be used to raise seed capital and facilitate its investment in development of future townships. The Andhra Pradesh Housing Board, too, would be involved in the development of such sites and money thus generated could be ploughed back for developing townships around existing urban local bodies. Action plan sought Accordingly, officials have proposed to acquire 1,600 acres under the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority at a cost of Rs. 80 crores to develop 32,000 plots for housing, 50 acres at Rs. 18 crores to develop 600 plots in 20 acres and a truck terminal. While dwelling on the concept of satellite townships, Dr. Reddy asked officials to prepare an action plan and formulate guidelines within a week for developing them with the required civic amenities. |
