4800 Yonge Street (SW corner of Yonge/Sheppard)

The image url's have "KPF" in it. Looks like this could be a Kohn-Petersen-Fox designed building.

I believe the site is owned by OMERS.

Despite the apparent acute sharpness portrayed in the render (perspectives almost always give this illusion), I suspect this will be a pretty average looking glass box with a slight variation on the 7th floor.

FOR SALE: THE SHEPPARD CENTRE

Quote:
The Sheppard Centre, a mixed use development at the corner of Sheppard and Yonge Streets, is now for sale, according to TD Securities.
Quote:
What makes this an intriguing opportunity for developers is the fact that there is potential in adding much more density to the site.

Based on documents provided by TD securities, in the long term the site could see up too three new towers.

Bids are currently being submitted to TD Securities on September 27th.

Interesting, although unconfirmed information by Nadine Robbins via Urbandreamer on UrbanToronto. The 199 and 205 Yonge Street proposal will be 80 storeys according to this real estate insider.

80 storeys is pretty big news, would be in the height range of Aura and One Bloor. With Yonge/Bloor and Yonge/College getting taller and denser, it's nice to see this part (Dundas to Queen) densifying too, skyline wise).

Both the former branch of the Canadian Bank of Commerce at 199 Yonge Street and the stately Bank of Toronto building located at 205 Yonge Street have been sold and a new future 80-storey condominium project is scheduled to take their place.

That means we're either getting a facadectomy or a very, very narrow tower. I predict that 197 Yonge will be sacrificed while 205 Yonge is kept whole.

There's plenty of room in the laneway behind the two heritage buildings to add an 80-storey tower. No need to sacrifice either one of them.

The space isn't particularily wide:

Nor is the space behind any wider:

Mock up massing by Canadian National on UT.

I for one am against this sale. these two buildings would be a great asset to the City of Toronto and should not be lobbies for a condo. If they leave them alone, restore and open them to the public they I will back a plan for this site.

That site was sold? Dang... I'd always wished that if I won the lottery I'd turn those buildings into my personal club.

Agree 100%! I want access to those 2 buildings. They would make great little museums or art galleries.

The name ``Synergy Condos`` causing a lot of waves in the real estate world. Rumoured to be with a developer from the UAE and 100+ storeys.

From @BuzzBuzzHome`s Twitter:

Quote:
Hearing that Synergy Condos is going to be 100+ storeys, with an unknown developer to Toronto from the UAE.
Wow! Our hot real estate market is getting world recognition, everyone wants a piece of the action. With Bazis from Kazakhstan, Concord and Henderson from Hong Kong, and now this, Toronto is becoming a playground for the rich and international developers. And tons of companies from Vancouver too. Truly exciting times to be a skyscraper fan in this city. Although will be interesting to see how this and the other rumours materialize in midst of unpredictable economic times.

It's being used in a commercial that's on TV right now. Some girl gets lowered down mission impossible from the skylight. I forget what it's for.

As for the 100+ storey condo, it better look good.

Agreed. Hearing "UAE" makes me think it could be Spectacular, or Kitsch... more likely than anything in the middle.

If you don't include the First Canadian Place that was built in the '70's, which had
no idea it was being built 2 metres short of a future arbitrarily chosen figure of 300m
for a "supertall"!
