I love the design of the new Bali terminal but man, the passenger experience needs to be improved. After customs and immigration, they literally make you walk in circles through the duty free store when departing and arriving. I know many airports do this as well, but at least try to make the merchandise attractive looking. The COACH and Burberry merchandise were so dusty and look liked they've been purposely crushed, while the arrival duty free products were nothing more than kit-kats, sun tanning lotion and bottled drinks.

They havent finished the retail space for that merchandise, hence they put it into temporary retail space making it look very tight. After the retail stores are finished then they will move inside. I am not really sure about the dust or whatnot for the Coach and burberry merchandise, maybe you right.

bear in mind, this new terminal is not fully 100% finished, the domestic terminal is still under renovation thus the international arrival shares its space with domestic departures. This whole terminal expected to officially open maybe before july 2014

Cheers

Keliatannya sempit, tapi nyatanya enggak juga kok.

Gak ada itu lapak-lapak model di CGK. Semuanya punya kapling yang ditata rapih, gak dipaksain.

Hmm.. Lupa toiletnya

The International terminal is getting better on its facilities and retail area. I was there on NY 2014 and Christmas 2015. So many differences during a year time frame.

The retail experience is getting better right now. The numbers of luxury brands inside DFS area is increasing. The choices of F&B is more variable compared to last year. I remembered last year where there were only 3 snack bars inside the boarding area and the queue on each stall is really long. And the stall were selling the same stuff . And during my last visit, several WH Smith already opened inside the boarding lounge. Some food court are opened with various snacks and cuisines offered. The executive lounge seems will be finished soon on the second floor of the shopping arcade area, which currently still using one of its boarding lounge as a temporary.

The old domestic temporary area, which used some space of the International terminal are currently renovated. Seems the area will be used to expand the current boarding area which used as boarding gate number 10 and 11.

But a thing I felt strange was the security check before entering gate 10 and 11. The boarding gate itself is located on the ground floor of the terminal. Before entering the gate, you need to open your bag manually and they just check it by using their own hand instead of X Ray Machine. But this practice does not followed by another gates. Or maybe this just practiced on the flight bound to Australia? I am not sure.....

And having a connection between international and domestic flight in DPS is seems quite uncomfortable at the moment. You need to walk towards a spooky corridor (Which seems unfinished yet) and took around 10-15 minutes by foot. Hope they will provide a better shortcut for transiting passengers

it looks great, but too bad they didn't break it down and build a new domestic terminal building on the same spot...
Why i'm saying this? It looks much better, but the low ceilings of the floors give me still the old 'feeling' .... new airport terminals these days and the int terminal of DPS have high spacious ceilings which feels more comfortable.
Although the current state of the airport is like 10000x times better than a couple of years ago....Hopefully they will maintain it like it's still brand new.

i was at DPS last month and it was approx a 10 minutes walk from international to domestic terminal thru dark corridors without cctv and AC and there was nobody over there. But i have to tell you, the domestic terminal looks much better now than 2 years ago. It's spacious (although not so 'height' as the international terminal) plenty of shops + food n beverages + seats and it looks so much better than before the renovation. And the smoking area is outside on the top of the terminaln where you've got a cool panorama view.
