Upgrading the camera body can help, but the glass is more important

I'm amazed at the population of Toronto, seeing as how far North it is, that seems like a no-go zone within the US, for instance, cities comparable to Toronto geographically in the US seem to be losing population (Buffalo, Rochester, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Detroit). Obviously weather isn't the primary variable, but it's interesting Toronto and Canadian cities still grow despite their Northernness.

Haha but southern Canada is still at best the equivalent of living in northern pennsylvania, which is pretty bad. Most Americans dislike any weather north of Washington DC (west coast not included) so northern Pennsylvania is almost unbearable! Haha

Even in the south it gets cold in winter, but (and it's a massive but) you get to live in Canada. I thank my parents all the time for moving us here.

Btw, the annual average temperature in Vancouver is 10.1 °C (50.2 °F), amongst the mildest in Canada. It is located in a USDA plant hardiness zone of 8, similar to Seattle, Portland, Amsterdam and London, as well as places such as Atlanta, Georgia and Raleigh, North Carolina, far to the south.

RALEIGH! haha, but Vancouver's an exception, obviously Vancouver is the one Canadian city with very mild weather because it lies on the western coast. But Vancouver aside, Canada is a pretty cold place! I don't think I could live anywhere in Canada if not Vancouver.

Where'd your parents move from btw? Canada seems like a cool place, but I'll take San Diego, and my SoCal weather over that snow anyday! haha

The cold weather can definitely get to you, be we tend to have warmer weather than Upstate New York and almost always less snow. Either way, Southern Ontario is on the same parallel as Oregon.

ZenLens, what camera are you using?

But latitude is almost irrelevant when comparing coastal cities to continental cities. Afterall, Raleigh is on the same parallel as Iraq, but we sure as hell don't have the same weather.

London, England. 4 proper seasons is my ideal climate; SoCal climate would get on my nerves after a while. Perhaps we should steer this back to photos?

Very cool! Well, I think most Canadian cities are favorable to London, so I saw good job to your parents! haha

And as you wish! I just enjoy hearing about Canada.

I'm shooting a Canon 1Dsmk2. As for the discussion, I welcome it I will keep posting pics of course as well. I believe Toronto is about the same latitude as northern California/southern Oregon, although there is a huge difference not being right by the ocean. This year however, winter has been absurd. We still don't really have any snow to speak of, right now it is raining and 5 degrees (celsius). I miss winter and love having all 4 seasons...each one has it's advantages.

Pics to come soon!

Cheers,
Zen
