This project would fit in nicely for Chicago. If this tower was to be built, it would increase revenue, jobs and more millionaires for the city.

I drink to this proposal!

Well this proposal is very big, and is actually being thought out by the "approvers". I would think this might be approved because in Chicago; especially close to the city, they are needing office space and residential. This twin structure has a third of office space (that podium which everyone thinks is too big isn't a podium, it houses the office space), a third of hotels, and a third of residential ie. condos etc.

Thinking that the need to rebuild the World Trade Center in New York is so dire, the Freedom Tower alone has a total cost of 3.1 billion.
This whole progress, which includes over 5 towers, will cost 3.5 billion.

I think after some tampering with the design and height, this might become a reality.

I hope so!!

This tower is awesome! Fits really well In Chicago! If it gets built it would put us at at least number 2 on the map for the greatest skyline. Check out this web site http://www.boothhansen.com/wp-conten...oth-Hansen.pdf It gives good images of the placement of he towers and landscape. Also there's going to be a huge glass dome if anyone checks this website. Does anyone know how would it actually look in 3D

Imma have to agree with you. I believe the whole phase is just 3.5 billion dollars, and the Freedom Tower alone is 3.1 billion. And they still have 3 other towers to construct. This building will also open up jobs and office space, etc.. Its possible for this to be approved and possibly constructed..
LETS DRINK!! lol

1 WTC is being built by NYNJPA and the rest of by Silverstein Properties. These project shouldn't cost more than 5 billion dollars to complete.

Wow, this project is so huge! And the main tower looks like a doubled Hancock! I think this would greatly enrich Chicago's skyline with its boxy design. Not like the *****-like Spire

exactly my thoughts, chicago's skyline is supposed to be boxy, classic, yet modern

I 1000% agree with you folks. Chicago needs boxy buildings, not dildings

Btw, isn't it time for them to release renderings of this complex? They won't attract any tenants with such secretive approach. we also still don't know if the design we saw is final or only temporary

its not supposed to be boxy. it just has 2 iconic boxes. chicagos skyline is a mix of timelines just like new york. it could use curves esp along development going on around the park towers. the chicago post office should be imposing like a box but elegant and slightly curved like the petronas.
personal opinion of how it should look.

yes but look at a picture of a skyline. it looks a lot more boxy than new york, because the biggest buildings are boxy and the outline isnt an island and so it has this street grid throughout. and that makes the difference. now this effect would vanish if giant buildings are built like the chicago spire, which also draw the center of attention away from the main skyline. this building however doesnt. but thats just my opinion.

This tower is kind of similar to Busan Lotte Tower (Busan, South Korea)
Heres a picture: http://www.infobarrel.com/media/image/55403_max.jpg
Also is there any update on this tower.

It's up to the developers, to finish their stalled buildings not Chicago.
