The topic "megatalls in the US" isn't content of this towers thread, so isnt religion in the Mekka thread, 911 in the WTC threads, floor counting methods in the One57 thread. I don't know why so many threads get screwed by off topic blah blah. At least we had mods in the past who cared about it.

We have no news regarding this building anymore, so we have nothing to talk about in this thread. Every post on the last few pages was off topic or speculative, so a closure until we have news makes sense to me to avoid topics like parapet height, megatalls in asia, and so on.

But as the only megatall proposal in the US the "megatalls in the US" is in fact this building in the US. Discussing whether such a building in the US is feasible or not is perfectly on topic

Question: Does anyone know how tall this would be including the antennas?

610m . Better ask the height without the antenna/Spire .

I know its 2000 ft to the roof but the Antennas look massive
In the picture both antennas look pretty huge similar to the John Honcock's. Which is about 400ft tall. If its that tall or taller it will be the second, well third if the Kindom Tower gets built, second tallest building in the world.

It's NOT 2000 ft to the roof....it's 2000 ft to the antenna/Spire

At 120 floors you don't reach 610m without a spire...more arround 500m.
Remember the 610m Chcicago Spire. No Spire and 150 floors

Not at all, the floors just need to be bigger

Shanghai tower is nearly 2100 feet to the roof with 128 floors.

But in the USA you need special FAA permission to pass 2000 feet, so it probably would be 2000 to the pinnacle.

And for the fifth time, this is more just a fantasy idea rather than a real proposal, anyone who thinks this will actually be built needs to read up on it more.

No, ST is less than 2000 ft to the roof. It has a big crown on top without floors.

This is 2000 feet or 610 meters to the roof. I'm certain of it because in the only official render the residential buildings next to it are half as tall as the roof height of the main building and they have half as many floors. Residential floors are typicaly smaller than office ones but apparently in this case they are equal. The thin steel sticks on top of the roof apparently aren't spires but are antennas so that's why they didn't count them

And as to 120 floors being a too small number for 610 meters, well, it isn't. The comcast center in philadelphia is 298 meters tall but has only 57 floors, 15 Penn in NYC is 371 meters tall but has only 67 floors, 1 Manhattan West in NYC is as well 371 meters tall but has noly 66 floors, and I could name even more buildings if anybody has a doubt

I have to agree with you everything you said. I remember a couple of times it saying it was 2000 ft to the roof but since there antennas and not spires there not included. That's the same thing with the sears tower it is almost taller than the 1WTC to the antennas but since they are antennas there not counted to the height.

Whatever, this building is not an economically viable proposition.

We dont know at all. If you see someone say it is or it is not, its probably just due to opinion or guess. I for one hope it gets built, however I'm not sure it will be.

the tower itself is not what is economically univable. it is simply unlikely. the part of this development that truly isnt viable is the monstrous retail component. the retail part will have to be scaled back before this ever really has a chance to be built.

Nobody knows really.. When someone says its not going to happen, they're probably just saying do to past history in Chicago and with there money. But no one actually knows until the proposal is approved or not which I think is suppose to be this month sincr I read its suppose to be a 7 month process. Personally I hope it does.

I hope you're right. I don't wanna see another Chicago Spire. I dare not to guess what impact on the US the Euro crysis might have in the next few years
