Exactly, this could very well happen, especially since they supposedly have funding for the first phase. But, don't expect to hear anything on this until the market has fully recovered.

Not necessary to be built, doesn't even have an iconic look.

lol, This hasn't been approved, and if they build it when the market recovers, you can bet that they will have a better design then this.

I wish they would just let Tower 1 have at least a 5-10 year reign

I think with 610 meters it would rule for quite some time

as tallest building of the united states, no doubt. Chicago doesn't need any more buildings and new york does already has a lot of 400m scrapers rising and will most likely not start to build a mega tall in the near future either with so many other supertalls being proposed already. But i have my doubts that this post office tower will in fact rise in the next few years, although i certainly hope so

Until the market fully recovers, we won't here anything on this, so it's best to just wait.

It's hard to tell, some buildings like 432 Park get built very soon after they are announced but some buildings like Tower Verre are 5 years literally dormant, which borders on declaring them a stale proposals. I haven't got a clue which of this 2 cases this building will be so I'd just wait and see and hope

Posting on this thread is kind of useless until we get more info on this, and it could be a few years, so the only thing to do now is make diagrams, shots of what it will look like in the skyline, and for the most part, wait.

Jeez, with all those reaction images I thought they had added 100 meters to this or something else spectacular! Oh well.

From XIII over @ SSP

If they just dropped the plans for the crosswalk and the new adjacent development on the east bank or the river I could almost get on board with this. It would still be wildly ambitious but not nearly as much as with the crosswalk plans.

That looks incredible, they have changed the design quite a bit, and definitely for the better. This is getting closer to being a serious proposal, but like you said, if this goes forward I expect them to drop the development on the east bank.

the new main tower looks to be in the 13-1400 range from the end of the video.

I know this is an out there proposal, but it would be amazing to see this on Chicagos skyline.

Definitely, I like the design a lot. I would say it looks to be around the 400m range. For all we know the renders could have the height off, and it could be 500m+, either way I like it.

That last render looks amazing!!

I think it is about time America broke the 500m barrier. All buildings they have only go up to about 400m. They haven't even built any 400ers since like 1973, which New York is starting to change.

The Freedom Towers antenna doesn't count (for this post) because it is not actually a habitable building space.

BUILD A BUILDING OVER 500 METRES THIS DECADE

The design shown in the video looks greally great . I would estimate the height to 400-500m too. But a 500m+ tower chicago would be great . Especially since the Spire is dead.

By pinnacle height, and the CTBUH architectural height, the Trump International Tower, finished in 2009, is a 423 meter building. So actually Chicago is the only city that has built a 400 meter building since the 70's

Here is a picture of the Trump International
