This building isn't a real proposal, but I do have some good news, there are rumblings of a serious 600m proposal in Chicago, on the spire site.

One of the prominent users on SSP, Mr Downtown, stated, "I talked yesterday with someone in real estate marketing who had been contacted about possibly doing work on a 2000-foot project on the site of the Spire. No further info at this time."

Thanks, saw that! Sounds tantalizing ...

One thing: did Mr. Downtown specify '600 meters' ?

He said 2000 feet. That's 610 meters

A megatall on the Spire site would look incredible. I really hope that these rumors will be proven to be true

I don't understand this obsession with height. Design always triumphs over height, and a 2000 footer anywhere makes the skyline unbalanced. Maybe Chicago is an exception since it has some really tall ones already...

and if something is 1000 feet instead of 2000 feet, thats still a skyscraper, height isn't all that matters...

Here is a quote of Mr Downtown's post: "I talked yesterday with someone in real estate marketing who had been contacted about possibly doing work on a 2000-foot project on the site of the Spire. No further info at this time."

As you can see, this isn't a rumor. The only question, is when we will hear about this proposal, and how serious it is. It may just be a coincidence, but Donald Trump said that he was "interested" in the spire site about a year ago.

It isn't an obsession with height for me. I want Chicago to have a new tallest, but besides that, I care the most about design, as long as it is tall enough to stand out in the skyline.

Height doesn't preclude design. What's the matter with you people ?

"Us people" realize that not everything matters so much about the height u can have a great looking building at 1400 feet u dont need something 4000 feet tall

There you go again. Nobody said 4,000 feet, you did. You're being ridiculous.

Dubai had height as a higher priority than design.
Don't think I need to say more.
