Forgot to mention that it's a pity that mostly China gets the good stuff. I'd like to see this kind of development in other parts of the world. But I won't complain, at least in China such big towers eventually get built.

@KZ: I doubt they'll increase it. If they did want to increase the other plot to 500 metres, why not just make plot 2 for a 700 metre tower and leave plot one as it is for a 500 metre building?

I take that original heights were only conceptual. They were only to illustrate the idea of building two landmark towers of similar height - one a little taller than the other. So it's only logical than when one end up 700+ the other probably won't be much lower

Take the Guangzhou "Twins Towers". Not sure if the ifc has been ever increased but the chow tai fook was originally to be lower than ifc and eventually end up 530m. So from the concept to the real thing a lot can happen

Is this the one with 138 floors? Looks like the crown and the spire will exceed 100m so we may easily assume this is going to be 750m+?

Yes, in some way it does, but if you look close you can see some points are different than ping an. Like the 4 edges, it has some what holes looking from the top to the bottom. Also the top where it connects, it also have hole there, so I wouldn't count say this looks like Ping An. But ideas of new looking skyscrapers has dropped, most skyscrapers are just taking some ideas from other already built or uc buildings.

How tall will those buildings be in the background? I mean the ones still in prep with all the cranes around them?

this is really going ahead. is the tower planned where now is the hole or is that part of the side podium / retail area.
looking on the renders it looks like the retail area will be where the orange testing site is now about. so this indeed is the hoe for the foundation of the tower. this will be U/C very fast
