No, they're leveling the site. They'll start digging when pilling is finished.

Alleged blueprint. They didn't credit the source, so it might be fake or outdated.

Of course It's just that few days ago we heard it will be 750m, so someone obviously have wrong info but those plans look rather genuine to me.

over 600m will only be the tuned mass damper (阻尼器 in the diagram) and other than that only a rather empty crown/spire, which is a bit sad. but it still will be a building as massive as goldin finance and on top of that a really nice architectural spire, so it is beautiful nontheless

592.8m is the highest a regular person can go on the building, which is still very impressive. i really hope construction will start soon!

Lerch Bates was awarded the contract to design the exterior building maintenance equipment system for China's future tallest building, the Suzhou Zhongnan Center. When completed, the Center will be 700 meters (2,297 feet) and could earn the title of the tallest building outside of the Middle East.

Designed by Gensler, the supertall skyscraper will feature office space, a five-star hotel and residences. Foundation work has already begun on the building, with major construction set to commence next year.

sky city is not dead yet, shenzhen has two buildings over 700m proposed and wuhan has one aswell, also i am pretty sure this towers final height is likely to be the 729m figure that is the most common in the news we got. so yeah china is getting taller buildings sooner than later.
