Yeah it's a great place to visit and I wouldn't mind living there either.
I was not ecstatic though about the kind of tourists it attracts, but that can't be helped unfortunately.

3 trips so far. I stopped at Christchurch airport on the way back home and I must say that it really puts Melbourne Airport to shame

I am very happy to read that you had a great time. I also want to live there, I adore it. Are you talking about the well-heeled tourists or the younger ski/backpacker crowd ?

The Young brits and Aussie brigade whose main purpose in life seem to get drunk at any time of day and night

I think the perfect tourists are the Japanese, the Chinese and the South Americans with whom you can have good conversations which do not revolved around alcohol

I hear ya. We went up to Coronet Peak at 10am and there was a mini van full of Aussie Teenagers - pissed out of their minds having something to say about everybody that was up there - f**king idiots. I love your last batch
