Thanx for the comments you will probably like Castle Street & Water Street then which should be coming soon. They have some beautiful old buildings on them including huge ones from the 1920's-30's.

It's absolutely fantastic to see such appreciation for Liverpool. I'm a born and bred scouser and have always loved living in the city. I love when visitors come to the city and fall in love with it. It is such a vibrant place to work and live.

My boyfriend is the author of several local history books about Liverpool and we both adore the city.

I have to say, my favourite part of Liverpool is the commercial district and Pier Head. I love the diversity in terms of architecture in Old Hall Street and St. Pauls Square. If you get a chance Mossy I would definitely recommend taking some photographs of that surronding area by Moorfields station and business district. Some very impressive skyscrapers there.

^ Yeah I plan to do the Strand & Old Hall street soon just waiting for some nice wather to come along

Water Street

Water Street lies just behind the Royal Liver Building and is one of the only streets in Liverpool that truly makes you feel small. It is often quite dark but is full of interesting architecural details and important buildings . . .

Below is the huge Martins Bank Building buit between 1927-32 and is an excellent example of interwar classical.

These are just the Lifts but I wasn't allowed into the main hall, which is spectacular almost like a cathedral to Banking!

Next are the India Buildings built between 1924-32. This massive office block was designed to be converted to a warehouse if needed.

And lastly is Oriel Chambers which is described as one of the most infuential buildings of its age. Built in 1864 it is the worlds first metal framed glass curtain walled building. It lead to many of the skyscraper buildings that were built in New York and Chicago in the later 19th Century.

Water Street is certainly a street of architectural distinction.

Oriel Chambers and 16 Cook Street are two of my favourite buildings in the city centre.

Great pics again Mossy.

Great photos once again

I don't like building with the square-ish windows on the last photo. Is it a '70s/'80s building?

Yeah i dont really like it either, but i dont know that much about it to be honest. Ive always thought that its windows are a bit like Oriel Chambers in the way they they 'bubble' out of the facade

You're absolutely right! I love Water Street - it's clear where America got some of its architectural plans from. Look forward to more great piccies.

Don't Forget Stanley Dock! It may be disused but the buildings around there, especially the Tobacco Warehouse are very impressive.

Also the University Campus with the Quad and Waterhouse Buildings are mighty fine. Especially internally.

One of my favorite things to do when I am in a car is drive down Parliament Street, onto the Dock Road and then the Strand. The view of the city is monumental!

Castle Street

Castle Street is one of the most beautiful commercial streets in Liverpool. At the north end of the street is Liverpool Town Hall built in 1754 and at the south end is the Queen Victoria Monument, built ontop of the original site of Liverpool Castle which the street is named after. . .

Below is the former Bank of England Building for its branch in Liverpool during the mid 19th century.

Liverpool Town Hall

The Queen Victoria Monument

Coming soon Interior Shots from Liverpool Town Hall!
