Well, having been to Xian earlier this year, I must say Qujiang is a bit out of the way from the rest of the tourist sights and the distance is too far to walk. The taxi ride is short and cheap but a quick transit option would definitely help. The Tang Dynasty theme park is also a major tourist attraction and should be connected, which has been achieved, although I had hoped it would connect to the subway network (guess that will come later when the other lines finish).

China adds new cities as operating metro system every year. In 2011, it added Chongquing & Xian. Metro was urgently needed for such a large city as Xian.

I’ve some questions (arose after viewing some websites). Please answer one by one –
1) Will line 1 be extended from Q.I.C & E Centre to Weiqu South?
2) Will there be a new line 1 from Houweizhai to Banpo?
3) Will there be a new line 3 from Xinzhu to Cepocun?
4) Will there be a new line 4 from Caotan Nonchang to Weiqu South?
5) Will there be a new line 5 from Xiweiqiang to Fangzhicheng Rail Station with a branch from Xiaotou to Liucunbu?
6) Will there be a new line 6 from Banpo to C.H.T.I Park?
7) What are the target years of opening al these new lines & extensions?
8) Why line 2 constructed before line 1?
9) Left side, right side or both sides, - which type of platforms are in most numbers in Xian subway network?
10) Which are the highest and deepest stations of Xian metro?
11) Which is the busiest metro station?
12) Which stations have interchange facility with suburban rail network?
13) Where is/are the depot(s) of the subway network?

Finally I answer to some of these questions:
1 to 6: Actually there are 15 planned lines, which includes those 6.
7: AFAIK 2030. But this is China...
8: Maybe because line 2 connects the new North (HST) station with city centre.

Wow, Xian is already opening its second line; Harbin is still stuck on the bus.

There are all together 8 new line openings and more to extend this year. Harbin and Qingdao really need to speed up their metro constructions.

Even the columns are richly decorated. For a cultural city like Xian, I think it is nice to put more aesthetics in the subway stations.

What about the south stretch of line 2? Will it be open in September 2013, or later?

Wooden elements on screen-doors? I've never seen that anywhere.
That's so unusual, i like it! Looks much more casual and gives the station
some kind of warmth.

I like the aesthetic in the Xian metro. It's unusual among modern metros.

Love how every station has a different symbol though I wonder how they are going to manage once the network gets huge. They already have some very similar symbols in the exsisting completed network. For example Fengzhicheng and Houweizhai have very similar symbols. The native Chinese can tell the difference as one is a military uniform and the other is a regular clothes but a foreigner is less likely to spot the differences.

That's niece idea. But does anyone have a larger version of this map? So that one can really see the pictograms.
