What is the status of the line 2 extension from Huizhan Zhongxin to Weiqunan? According to UrbanRail and Chinese Wikipedia it opened on June 16, but English Wikipedia doesn't say so...

I see some interesting changes in that map. For instance, I see the Airport line, which was line 13, has been merged into line 2. Line 4 has been rerouted away from Beikezhan to end now at Shangji Lu. Also, what happened to the original line 9, which ran from Fangzhicheng into Lintong? The new line 12 doesn't go through Fangzhicheng. In addition, I see some weird planning (as in many Chinese cities), like that line 16 from the airport to Caotan Nongchang or line 17 from Lintong to Yanliang (wouldn't be better to extend line 15 from Gaoling?)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the opening of line 3, which should happen by the end of current year.

I like to see the short-term plans being revised every now and then. They are always completing the long-term plans much ahead of originally planned.

Also, since there is a Xi'an metro, now I want to see a Banu subway and a Vanduul underground.

Some fresh news: Line 3 is due to open on Saturday. It runs from Yuhuazhai to Baoshuiqu, 39.1 km with 26 stations. Thus, Xi'an metro will reach a length of 90 km. Line 3 intersects line 1 at Tonghuamen and line 2 at Xiaozhai.

Xi’an metro Line 3 opens
17 Oct 2016

CHINA: Xi’an metro Line 3 opened on October 15, running 39·1 km from Yuhuazhai in the southwest of the city to Baoshuiqu in the northeast. Line 3 has 19 underground and seven surface stations, including interchanges with Line 1 at Tonghuamen and with Line 2 at Xiaozhai.

CRRC Dalian has supplied 41 six-car Type B2 Class DKZ17 trainsets which are maintained at two depots at Yuhuazhai and at Guoji Gangwuqu. The 1·5 kV DC overhead trainsets have four motor and two trailer cars, reflecting the steep gradients on the line. They have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and a capacity of 1 880 passengers, including 169 seated. The line is equipped with Siemens Trainguard MT communications-based train control.

An 11 km western extension from Yuhuazhai to Kunmingchi with four stations is planned.

It is quite clear that there are now three lines in operation.

The official government website shows a two-line subway, though:

http://www.xametro.gov.cn/xianluchaxun.phtml

There is another official-looking website, but also just a two-line map:

I mean a paper map - a reall one. I found it annoying when visiting Xi'an, that they didnt provide passangers with maps.
