Dizengoff square poll results

On the public participation poll about the future plans for Dizengoff square, 60% of the tel aviv public and shop owners chose lowering the square back to the original design.
Tel Aviv's mayor promised before the poll he would accept and plan the square according to the public poll results. So it looks like the square will be changed back to the first layout.

Personally.........

I like it the way it is......trashy and nice

If you want to focus on a square, why dont you start fixing Kikar Hamedina instead. It seems like TA municpality wants too many things on their plate!

It will look just like a regular square. And the one lane road will be a disaster.

For traffic, an underground tunnel would be the perfect solution.

Dizengoff square needs to be lowered; I do not think that is " trashy" in any way.

It is just plain ugly and that fountain deserves to be brought down .

Nonetheless, I passed by yesterday and it seems as though they were renovating the fountain...

yes the fountain is now being renovated regardless of what happens with the square.
I agree with you Id like to see it lowered and a tunnel underneath, I dont know why lowering the square would mean all traffic above ground.

I dont get the point of an underground tunnel?
Isnt their an underground tunnel right now which allows you to go in those European circle straight, right or turn a bit and go left?

right now its half underground and half raised. I dont understand why they cant dig the roads deeper to a full underground and lower the square to ground level.

Tel aviv muni will start design to lower the square.
in another poll residents voted 53% in favor of underground parking under the square

They can still maintain one of the routes as fully undergound and not roundabout. I agree that a carpark could cause congestion. we'll have to see what the final design is but lowering the square back to ground level is the right thing to do in any case in any city.
Raising public squares above visible traffic routes never works, probably its psychological.

Zvi Lishar the architect of the current design defends his design suggesting minor adjustments and renovations are more practical and the poll was populistic and the square cant be reversed
