Sutherland Shire!
- Skyline- it has many skylines stretching from beautiful Cronulla to bushy Sutherand
- Quality of life- is a very sough after area.it has everything!shopping!!
has largest shopping centre in Sydney! (Miranda Fair), great schools, clubs pubs ect
- Convenience- nicely located 25km south of CBD.easy to get to.
- Transportation -it has trains/buses and even ferry servces.
- Housing-many affordable homes and not so affordable.has zoned hosuing commission in sutherland and Menai while there are 5mil homes in Cronulla and Port hacking
- Council Services- has everything
- Scenary-top place to live/work/play sport/schooling ect
i spent the last 16 years of my life there and regrettably had to move just 3 months ago to central Coast. i do miss the place but im very happy with Umina Beach! bit slower lifestyle and great atmosphere.
so is suther shire- southwest? option

I love my hills (North West). Pity tho that there isnt much of a skyline. Otherwise its pretty perfect for me, very cosy and its got its own 'culture'. However almost every part of sydney is very nice and has something to bring to the table. Ultimately tho i am a city slicker so i would have to say the city gets the most from Matixvolta 'criteria'. Although i reckon we are all pretty much winners in syd!

Also Matixvolta, the South and Southern Highlands don't really go together because they are separated by the South-Western suburbs.

These are the official Sydney districts based on council areas, in terms of population districts. The largest in population is St George-Sutherland (438,244) and the smallest is Inner Western Sydney (166,044):

Inner Sydney
Botany Bay, Leichhardt, Marrickville, Sydney

Eastern Suburbs
Randwick, Waverley, Woollahra

St George-Sutherland
Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Sutherland

Canterbury-Bankstown
Canterbury, Bankstown

Fairfield-Liverpool
Fairfield, Livepool

Outer South-Western Sydney
Camden, Campbelltown, Wollondilly

Inner Western Sydney
Ashfield, Burwood, Canada Bay, Strathfield

Central Western Sydney
Auburn, Holroyd, Parramatta

Outer Western Sydney
Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Penrith

Blacktown
Blacktown

Lower Northern Sydney
Hunter's Hill, Lane Cove, Mosman, North Sydney, Ryde, Willoughby

Central Northern Sydney
Baulkham Hills, Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai

Northern Beaches
Manly, Pittwater, Warringah

Gosford-Wyong
Gosford, Wyong

Epping will get some skyline soon. 9 storey apartment + shopping arcade. Also, the new 'super' interchange.

There is also Pennant Hills skyline

I think it's unfair that the eastern surburbs include the city.
The city is too special, it should be excluded from any surburbs.

Penrith will have the best shopping in sydney in 5 years with the competion of penrith plaza (stage 3) then the complex will again grow by doubling it retail space going all the way over the train line and over high street(stage 4), the upgrand of penrith train station the over 200,000 pop growth, and the completion of six sky scapers (with a possible world HQ. parramatta also look to be great with the new civic place and geo possy!

Have ya say Sydneysiders!

http://radar.smh.com.au/archives/200...e_where_y.html

So True. Just ask Tony P. Tell him that he's a Shire Boy like one of the hobbits and he'll throw a punch. He actually has a map where and where-not to go.

Being lived in South West (Punchbowl, Belmore), Inner West (Strathfeield & Newington), Hills District (Epping), Lower North Shore (Chatswood), and soon to be moving to Glebe, it is pretty true the different cultures around Sydney.

South West - No place to go out at night. Not much to do in daylight either.
West - multiculturalism

Lower North Shore - Yes its a bit snobby place. Heaps of times I saw BMWs and Mercades all lined up like the main entrance of Starcity. But i guess how people where are like AC. Dress up when heading to city. Dress down when going to local bars

Hills District - It is the bible belt of Sydney. There are like 6 churches in the small suburb of Epping. Pedestrian activity got sucked away to Carlingford Shopping Centre and Maquarie Centre.

Inner West - Strathfield. Famous for the Homebush Rd mansions. Far'd income. Their family lived in those houses for at least a decade. New arrivals of immigrants come in to rent and do shopping. Big difference between the middle Strathfield and the North. North very multicultural.

Upper North Shore - Hornsby not included. Sorry but its so different to rest of Upper North Shore. These are the people who travel to city and lower north shore to work. Family Orientated. but their makeup arn't that thick at all.

Never lived in South or Western Sydney, so I can't say.

It would say it's a toss up between Sutherland Shire and Hills area. Richmond is not a bad area (near the RAAF Base) but you are so far away from the city and airport. But it doesn't have that cramped feeling most of Sydney has.

Richmond is one of the least favourite postings in the Air Force, so it seems a lot of other people don't like the location.
