Quick update that's not really an update:
holy cow, no updates in almost a month!... I've been busy lately with school and all, but I do plan on starting up again after Thanksgiving/in the upcoming weeks to keep this thing going!

Cheers!

Maybe you can also add the St. Lawrence Market and St. Lawrence Hall to the east. Sure, they aren't skyscrapers but they are an important part of Toronto.

To the north please start with City Hall (old and new), Osgoode Hall and the Canada Life tower ... those are Toronto Icons that will bring your "downtown" model to life.

To the west, Roy Thompson Hall would be wonderful to see. And, imagine Union Station & the Dominion building to the south!

I'm gonna say, head due south to get the "skyline" views...aside from the other buildings mentioned above

Cheers, m

lol ^ the board i have can't really expand any further east/west past victoria st and john street, so for the time being, it'll constricted to those streets (till i get a bigger board/more permanent base)...

none of the blocks are actually glued to the surface yet, so the more blocks i add, the harder it becomes to keep them lined up in a grid without moving,

i'll think of something

It's been a while since i updated,
Union Station is built, and the entertainment district is underway,

I dont know if it would spoil the look of the model, but have you thought of using electrical tape to mark out the roads/

The black colour would make the streets clear (you could even write street names with a wite-out pen) and the extra layer would keep the blocks from moving too far.

I assume the buildings are glued to the blocks? You could also code the blocks (on the bottom) and the table surface (in the grid) so if you ever have to move the model (you know, selling it to Toronto's future Museum of Toronto) it can be reassembled quickly & easily

Cheers, m

ya, i thought about painting the base grey/using grey tape of some sorts for the streets, then print off labels for street names (writing by hand would be too messy).. but these things will be last/held off until a later time because first i have to get this thing done lol!
and ya, the buildings are glued to the blocks..

Double-sided tape might work, or perhaps you can look into glueing them onto a papar surface in their intended location, and then cutting them away individually when you're ready to glue it to the main board. Time consuming in the end but keeps things in order.
