Don't mention it.

After all that is why I created this thread in the first place.

Lufthansa brings largest passenger aircraft to Houston Wednesday

Quote:
Lufthansa on Wednesday launches daily Airbus A380 service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Frankfurt, Germany.

This is the first Airbus A380 service in the state of Texas. The addition of daily Houston-Frankfurt service with the largest passenger aircraft will increase capacity on this route by 53 percent, Lufthansa said in a Wednesday statement.

The double-decker Airbus A380 has 526 seats, burns about 12 percent less fuel than other wide-body jets and is approximately 30 percent quieter than the current generation of wide-body aircraft.

To prepare for the Airbus A380, the Houston Airport System upgraded IAH with improvements such as a new elevated walkway and passenger loading bridge, including foundations and structure support, electrical updates and the addition of two jet fuel double hydrants in the apron.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker has declared Wednesday Lufthansa Airlines Day in Houston. The first Airbus A380 flight is scheduled to arrive in Houston at 1:50 p.m., when Parker, Houston Airport System Director Mario Diaz and Juergen Siebenrock, Lufthansa’s vice president of the Americas, will greet the incoming passengers. The aircraft’s first departure is set for 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, though future departures are scheduled for 4:20 p.m. daily.

Dreamliners won't be strangers to Houston
By Kiah Collier
Updated 1:53 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012
http://www.chron.com/business/articl...on-3808499.php

United Airlines will place most of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliners on Houston routes - at least for a few weeks.

The Chicago-based carrier will unveil on Thursday a handful of international routes it will serve with the long-range wide-body jetliners. United is scheduled to receive, and begin flying, five of Boeing's next-generation jets by year-end. Delivery of the first Dreamliner is scheduled for late next month.

United, the first North American airline to take delivery of the Dreamliner, will fly them domestically for a period of weeks before making their inaugural international commercial flights.

The carrier will use three of the aircraft for daily nonstop service between Houston and Amsterdam, London and Lagos, Nigeria. The 787 service to Amsterdam will begin on Dec. 4, to London on Feb. 4, and to Lagos on Jan. 7.

However, the 787 service to London and Amsterdam will last only until March 29, as the carrier receives more 787s during the early part of next year and moves them around its network.

"As we continue to take delivery of the 787s, we'll use them around the system until we have a critical mass of planes and can start putting them in more permanently," United spokeswoman Mary Ryan said.

The five-day-a-week Lagos route, which United launched in late 2011, was intended for 787 service all along but began on a Boeing 777 because production delays bumped the 787 delivery back several years. The Lagos route, which operates every day except Tuesday and Saturday, is pegged for indefinite Dreamliner service.

Other routes United said will get indefinite 787 service are: Denver-Tokyo, starting March 31; Los Angeles-Tokyo, starting Jan. 3; and Los Angeles-Shanghai, starting March 30.

Tickets for the Denver-Tokyo 787 service are already on sale; tickets for the other routes go on sale this Saturday.

Interjet is also planning to start service from IAH to Toluca in Mexico on September 14, pending government approval.
