Possible Future Skyscrapers for Charlotte,NC
Hello and welcome to this thread, here we can talk about skyscrapers were planned but never build, highrises that are in the works, or supertalls that you made yourself you want to see in the Queen City.
Post as many pics as you want! (p.s. this is the first thread I've made so I hope it does well )

Anybody know of any renderings with the current Charlotte skyline with the First Union and Trump imposed in the skyline?

What would be nice is a model of first Union, Trump, and that westin tower in the skyline together!
I may be wrong, but if the First Union tower had got built...we would not have the new Wachovia or wells fargo tower..Duke energy...whatever it's called tower built. ![]() But...we would have a 85 story tower in our skyline! (it was supposed to be 85 right)?

But why THAT design? It looks like a missile. There was an alternate design that I thought looked better. Not sure if I can find it though.

Charlotte does not have any legitimate Uptown proposals at this time. The most activity going on in skyscraper world is the Wells Fargo Plaza is on the market and will likely trade north of the $300/sf mark (which is a big deal, especially for Charlotte).
All of the current proposals and new construction activity is taking place directly north of the city in the suburbs up there and especially south of the city from Ballantyne over to Matthews. There are some big office mid-rise and apartment communities about to go up in that corridor along 485.

I thought this thread was going to be about 'possible' future skyscrapers.

Actually I'd say the most activity more recently is the UNCC Uptown building and Hotel Sierra, which were completed within the past couple of months, and the renovation of the half-finished Park condo project into a residential/hotel project.

While it may not be highrises, there are a TON of Projects going on in the Center City. There is a 12 story office project in midtown in the permitting process plus 3 residential projects, all midrise and some more retail being built around Met, there are 2500 units worth of apartments under construction or in the permitting process in Southend all midrise and infill. There is 300 units worth of apartments in Elizabeth on the table! There is also two apartment projects downtown in the permitting process. While there is nothing over 200 feet, it still helps with infill and density!

There are actually 3 office projects on Morehead between 6 and 12 floors, however they may be waiting on a healthier economy. The 12 floor building is to replace the dilapidated office building on the corner of Kenilworth and Morehead
