望京SOHO

http://www.soho-wangjing.com/

Architect: Zaha Hadid
Location: Wangjing Neighborhood
Concept: 3 Buildings with tallest being 200 meters

The project is to be developed into large-scale retail and office properties of a total GFA of approximately 500,000 square meters. Wangjing area is Beijing’s most developed high-end residential area, which is noticeably lacking in large-scale office and commercial facilities. The development of Wangjing SOHO will complete and add balance to the overall urban master plan for Wangjing. There is excellent accessibility to the project, with two subway lines and one light rail nearby and easy access to the airport expressway. This development, zoned to stand about 200 meters high, will be the first landmark and point of access to central Beijing from the airport expressway. Wangjing area is also home to the China headquarters of many multinational companies, including Daimler, Siemens, Microsoft, and Caterpillar whose headquarters are situated nearby.

Wangjing SOHO is designed by Zaha Hardid Architects. The planning and designing work has completed and the construction is estimated to be commenced in early 2011.

Wangjing SOHO Showroom Debuts In Beijing

Last week the Beijing-based real estate giant SOHO China debuted the new showroom for its latest project, Wangjing SOHO, designed by the renowned Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid. Set to be completed in 2014, this ambitious project follows on the heels of Hadid’s recently completed Guangzhou Opera House. Described as “a set of aluminum and glass mountains” to be set in Beijing’s Chaoyang district, Wangjing SOHO will consist of three curved office towers ranging in height up to 200 meters, along with three smaller commercial buildings.

SOHO China successfully bid 4 billion yuan (US$618) for the construction site in 2009, announcing at the time that it planned to build approximately 521,000 square meters of gross office and retail space on the land. Wangjing SOHO will be, upon its completion, the first high-rise landmark to be constructed between Beijing Capital International Airport and downtown Beijing.

At the Wangjing SOHO showroom event, Pan Shiyi, chairman of SOHO China said there is still much room for commercial real estate development in China’s first tier cities. Pan added that he believes the Wangjing SOHO complex will attract a number of Chinese high-tech companies and financial firms, helping to make Wangjing one of Beijing’s fastest-growing business districts.

Yes. I believe so. Its the building for their preconstruction ceremony and a showroom for buyers. Same thing SOHO did with their Galaxy project.

Awesome looking buildings! Very daring design. Too bad its not closer to CCTV HQ, they'd complement each other well.

They should build this right in the city center or main CDB, because this has the potential to be a landmark.
