Yes, it is architecturally nice, they have a Roman forum and a lot of Venetian architecture. You should just stay away from the villages around it, since they are full of hillbilly "nationalists" (more like imbeciles).

As for history, it was destroyed in the middle ages by the crusaders (on that Crusade in which they captured Constantinople), later it become part of Venice, then Croatia-Hungary (again) and then Venice (again), then France and Austria-Hungary after that.

Well you have such people in every country. And there are certainly plenty of nice people in Croatia too.

Thanks for the info!

I am hoping to visit my friend in Croatia sometime. I've really been dying to visit the country these last few years. Split, Dubrovnik, Riejka, Zadar, and that national park with all the waterfalls, all look amazing.

Dubrovnik is ****, instead of going there, you should go to the city of Kotor in Montenegro, it is way cooler. Tivat is a very nice city too and it is close to Kotor.

Kotor sounds nice too! But I heard that with all the Russians moving in, it's becoming very expensive. Is this true?

I never heard of Tivat. I'll have to look it up.

And what don't you like about Dubrovnik?

To buy real estate yes, otherwise things aren't any more expensive than in Croatia.

Tivat is the place where the Porto Montenegro marina (probably the best one in the World) is located.

The people there (in Dubrovnik) are by far the biggest hillbillies I have meet/seen anywhere (and I have been to the USA, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, Spain, etc.) and there really isn't that much to see there, especially compared to the hype it gets. It's an way over-hyped city.

Dubrovnik was city state with huge rich history

Just like Jiri Menzel, Britt Lapthorne, etc. didn't regret it. He is free to do what he wants of course, but I thought it is just fair to warn him.

So what? There were Jews in the Wehrmacht, does that mean that you hate Israel too? Most Armenians fought on the side of the Allies.

Dont mix those who hid out of fear to those who took pride in what they did....

Clearly for the Armenians, who faced genocide a few decades earlier, their main objective, like that of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Croatia was to avoid the soviet influence sphere....but that failed.... ups to Stalin and Tito
