Great photos guys, but some of these so called "Nubian villages" aren't authentic at all. I laugh when I see buildings with domes. (Ever seen the Nubian museum in Aswan? It's just sad how people in charge have no clue) Nubian houses traditionally aren't completely covered by roofs at all, especially in the living quarters and the "7oosh". No one used to worry because thieves were rare during those times) Considering the temperature, and that they didn't have ACs until tens of years ago should have made that clear. Of course some of it changed today, but my old house still has no roof over a large area.
The wall paintings and drawings are spot on though. It's popular to commission an artist to do one especially for people who return from Haj. I used to do those palm hand prints too in our old house when I was young. I remember even the door knockers were crafted with a unique style..the most popular one was the woman's closed hand with the eye inside it, I don't even remember where that originally came from. Some superstition or something. Gah, now I'm starting to miss home. |

 I've been to the Nubian village by the river in Aswan. We went to a Nubian women's house (she spoke no English lol) and she raised Nile crocodiles.

No roof? seriosuly? now I know it rains like 2 drops every year but if somehow due to climate chance there is a rainy day? what if it rain at night
