Hope that JAT will start serving JFK again.
I don't think that Germans will like that. The whole situation is based on the politics. They want us to connect via their European hubs such as FRA, MUN and so on. I am still confident that DL will start BEG. It may be just matter of time before they get some B787s. We will see, but until than, Gulf carries are heading our way.

Hm...I am not good in the issue of political relations between Serbia and Germany, but I don't think it will be that impossible. All in all, I don't talk about matters of which I have no idea

Besides Gulf carries you can also get to JFK via SVO. I almost everyday catch on Flightradar A321 heading from SVO to BEG.
Likewise, there was a possibility to reach JFK via Kyiv, but AeroSvit dropped the route unfortunately.

Really since when? I think they still serve Toronto once per week.. The european hubs do the job for now, but in terms of direct service from Usa/Canada to Serbia, they would be to happy about that because American carriers/Canadian/Jat would grab the connecting pax.

Sorry, it's my mistake. I mean that AeroSvit dropped the KBP-BEG route.
Toronto is still being served.

^Ohh right... Yeah too bad. We lost CSA, Aerosvit, Aegean, BH Airlines, British, Sterling and few more, but I suppose all of these will come back very soon. Despite their dismissal, we are still getting 16% boost in terms of passengers, so we are going to end 2011 with 3.150 000 pax in total. So we are back where we were 25 years ago. So yeah you are right, now is the time to start thinking about some long haul action. Qatar is due to start the service since they have announced BEG recently.

Starting this December, Aersovit is scheduled to receive its first E-190. Moreover, there are still some E-145 that are "resting" on the apron without any work.
In other words, I hope to see them flying again. It's not only about the transit pax. If you stay up to 30 days (if I am not mistaken) visa is not needed (both for citizens of Ukraine and Serbia)
P.S. Aerosvit now owns Cimber Sterling and Skyways.

Yeah it is very unfortunate that we lost KBP. I think they were aiming for Asia bound transit pax. Than again, I am sure their main competitors were Turkish and Aeroflot. SVO and BEG are linked with 14 weekly, add an other 3 flights from Jat Airways starting 2012. Turkish serves BEG on a daily basis, but not that long ago, they were looking to bump BEG to 2nd daily. I think they did not get the rights for the second daily. Than you got Fly-Dubai with four weekly flights allowing connections to anywhere in the world pretty much. Aeroflot may bump BEG up with a 2nd daily, as well as jat from 10 weekly to 14. Than we go back to Qatar and Fly Dubai. Fly-Dubai may go daily in the summer, but I am not sure about Qatar. Jat is going back to Dubai as of March 2012. As you can see, BEG is very competitive from that part of world. I would not exclude Emirates. I am very confident that they they are keeping a close eye on BEG since FZ has been here for a month and LF is already 50%.

March 16. 2010. I think they halted BEG around September 2011. Their very last flights were operated with EMB 145. So they went from B737 to EMB 145. I am not sure if they got decent loads in Sofia? Probably they do.

You were close. The last departure from Belgrade was dated June 8.

Regarding Sofia, I have no trustful information, but some times they deploy A320. As you already mentioned, in most cases it's E-145.

When I look at the data base a.net images, looks as the service was there from 2003. I think Aerosvit is still working on improving their image as a air carrier, and than we will see what happens.

They are state owned, so I think the state decides if they have money or not.

For now, I hope they will stick with developing BEG.
