The link has some info on it, but it's only in Serbian. I should have more details soon, as well as the progress on the T2.

Croatia Airlines is opening a new route Belgrade - Split

Quote:
This summer the air carrier Croatia Airlines is establishing seasonal air route from Belgrade to Split. The flights will be preformed twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, from June 1st until September 28th. Scheduled landing time on "Nikola Tesla" Airport is 2.05 pm and departure time for Split will be 2.40 pm. The flights will be carried out by turbo-prop jet Bombardier Q400, with the capacity of 76 seats.

Thus, the regular line Belgrade-Split is going to be re-established after more than 20 years, while Jat Airways will fly on the same route twice a week beginning from July 2nd. Apart from Pula and Dubrovnik the Serbian carrier has already included Split into new destinations in its schedule from the Belgrade Airport.

Qatar confirms Belgrade along some others

Quote:
From Qatar Airways twitter:

1. Qatar to resume Yangon, Myanmar 3 weekly A319 from October
2. Baghdad: June 4 times weekly A320
3. Erbil: May 2012 4 times weekly A320
4. Kilmanjaro (I thought it was a mountain!): Daily A320 via Nairobi
5. Belgrade: 4 times A320 via Ankara

Bummer Belgrade wasnt direct to compete with FlyDubai! I think eventually it will be though. Kilmanjaro is a surprise though, and 2 cities in Iraq!

Glad to see QR reinstate Yangon, although a downgrade from the previous A300-600R operations.

More to come!

Yeah they are investing here and there. The airport just got three modern lorry trucks that can fill up 1000 liters of fuel per one single minute. So an average plane can refuel in matter of three to five minutes. This is not a big deal right now, but if we get some bigger birds coming in, it is a very good investment.

New control tower for Belgrade Airport

Quote:
More passengers and new control tower for Belgrade

The Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency has announced that it will finance the construction of a new control tower at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. Construction will begin next year and is set to be completed by 2014. According to the agency, the land on which the tower will be built has been selected and work on the project design is now in progress. The new tower will stand at 52 metres tall. The current air control tower, being used at Serbia’s busiest airport, was built back in 1962. In 2010 the multi million euro Air Control Centre was opened within the airport complex.

Meanwhile, Belgrade Airport continued to report growth in 2012. In February the airport welcomed 173.606 passengers, an increase of 6.6% compared to the same month last year when it handled 162.813 passengers. The airport was served almost by the same amount of flights - 2.988 compared to last year’s 3.010. In the first two months of the year, Nikola Tesla Airport welcomed 388.185 passengers through its doors, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period last year.

This summer, Belgrade will see new Croatia Airlines flights to Split which replace Dubrovnik from last year, new flights from Copenhagen by Norwegian Air Shuttle, a 23% increase in flights from Jat Airways while Air One and Qatar Airways will also launch flights to the Serbian capital this summer season.
