Nikola Tesla Airport is by far to me the most exciting airport to visit, thus being because every time I visit there is something new and improved! I returned last month with FlyDubai and the service was great, the Captain was telling me how Nikola Tesla airport will one day become a BIG connection route for most people in Europe taking connecting flights to Africa and the Middle-East.

Next time I visit I will be sure to take a few photos and upload to the form.

Have a great day !
Hi
Nice to hear. Yeah I keep reading reviews about Nikola Tesla, and sure things are getting better. I should be getting some new pictures these days.

Swissport @ BEG and traffic growth

Serbia’s busiest hub welcomed 267.354 passengers, 27.072 passengers more than the same month last year or an increase of 11.3%. The airport recorded a total of 3.627 flights departing and arriving which is 4.3% more. During the first four months of the year Nikola Tesla Airport saw 871.564 passengers pass through its doors, which is 100.911 passengers more than the same period last year.

Growth in April was fuelled by Jat Airways which had an exceptional month passenger wise. In a statement the airport says “In the following months we expect to see significant growth in traffic. We predict that this year almost 3.5 million passengers will be registered at Belgrade Airport. With the airport celebrating its 50th anniversary it will mark a historic record”. Belgrade Airport’s busiest year was 1987, considered the golden year of Yugoslav aviation. During that year, the airport welcomed 3.311.951 passengers.

At some stage during this month Belgrade will surpass the one million passenger mark. Commenting on recent news that the world’s largest aviation handling company, Swissport, will soon begin operations at Nikola Tesla, the airport says that it looks forward to more competition and that the arrival of the handling giant will fuel even more interest from foreign airlines. It adds that it has already revised its handling prices in order to compete. Airlines will have the choice between three handling companies at the airport. Besides Swissport, at hand will be Belgrade Airport handling as well as SU-PORT, which is a Jat subsidiary.

I think they are working on a frame to mount that express walkway, but they need a solid base up there. We will see when we get better pictures. Btw they already had 100 000 pax more in the first quarter of 2012.

Here are some pictures from the Aviation Museum, which is close to Belgrade Airport. I won't say a lot about the airplanes mainly because the information showed near each aircraft was just in Serbian (with some exceptions). I noticed that the airplanes that are shown outside are old and rusty, but the ones that are displayed inside looked clean and well mantained (although this ones were also old).

A Sud SE-210 Caravelle VI-N aircraft that belonged to JAT Airways near the museum:

And pictures from the inside:

The airplanes were displayed on 2 decks. The lower ones on the first level, and the upper ones were suspended with cables from the ceiling:
