Hey YU-AMC is it possible that underneath the terminal there those car passing though where the gate at. can it be expanded to make a new floor on the bottom and for arrival to connect the bottom floor and departure stay at the top? but the road can be underneath the jetway but isn't the jetway gonna be long like the one in some chinese airport?

Etihad takeover of Jat expected in two weeks
Etihad poised to takeover and rebrand Jat into Air Serbia

Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, who is credited for initiating talks between Etihad Airways and Jat due to his friendly relations with the ruler of Abu Dhabi, has announced that the Serbian government has accepted Etihad Airways’ takeover proposal for Jat Airways. According to Serbian media reports, a takeover agreement could be signed as early as tomorrow in which case the Emirati national carrier would take control of Jat on August 1. An official signing ceremony will be held in ten to fifteen days in Belgrade. As EX-YU Aviation News learns, the proposed new CEO of Serbia’s national carrier, named by Etihad, has just arrived in Belgrade. According to Etihad’s takeover proposal, the airline will roll out the new Jat brand, along with a handful of new routes, on October 27.

A high ranking, three member, Etihad delegation arrived in Belgrade on Monday. The trio held talks with Jat Airways’ CEO and management on Monday followed by a meeting with the Serbian government on Tuesday. The delegation also payed a visit to Jat Catering and Jat’s ground handling division SU-PORT. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Serbia’s Deputy PM said, “I have good news for Serbia. I anticipate that we will soon solve the problem of Jat and sign a deal with Etihad. Rebranding will occur so we will all be proud of Air Serbia, which will be much more successful and better than Jat in every sense It is hard to imagine a better name than that. The name “Serbia” will be represented on all continents”.

According to the daily “Večernje novosti”, one of the proposed colour schemes for the rebranded Jat, to be named Air Serbia, is visible on the photo above as released by the newspaper. Thus, the Jat brand will disappear after 66 years. Air Serbia would serve as a successor to Jat, rather than a separate new company, taking over all of Jat’s assets, international agreements and codes as a result.

That is from 10 days ago, but nothing is yet signed, we have no concrete dates, especially about rebranding.

Jat takeover expected next Monday
Jat Airways soon to join Etihad’s family

Etihad Airways will take over a 49% stake in Jat Airways next Monday, July 22, when a signing ceremony between the Emirati carrier and the Serbian government is expected to take place in Belgrade. “The agreement is expected to be signed on July 22 because everything has already been agreed upon. Our side has accepted Etihad’s offer. Since Jat is in bad shape we didn’t have much space to negotiate”, an official taking part in the takeover process told Serbia’s national daily “Politika”. Following the signing ceremony, Etihad plans to secure ten Airbus A319s for Jat for the upcoming winter season and retire the ageing Boeing 737 fleet immediately, with Bombardiers scheduled for next summer. While the takeover date is not set in stone for next Monday, it will take place by the end of July.

As EX-YU Aviation News learns, Etihad plans to turn Jat (regardless of its subsequent name) into a competitive and strong airline in the region. Only this winter several new routes will be launched to cities in the former Yugoslavia, the Balkan region, Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Frequencies are to be boosted to key western European cities as well. Etihad also plans to put emphasis on service quality. The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates has requested utmost discretion with information regarding its future plans for Jat and is expected to reveal them to the public at a press conference following the takeover signing ceremony.

As the takeover date draws near, officials from Etihad Airways have begun frequenting Belgrade. Following a high ranking delegation last week, a new delegation will be arriving in the Serbian capital today. During last week, Etihad CEO, James Hogan, also made a short stop in Belgrade. Furthermore, EX-YU Aviation News learns Etihad is satisfied with the results recorded on its recently launched Abu Dhabi - Belgrade - Abu Dhabi service. The airline is seeing a large amount of early bookings with Jat also recording strong bookings on its own code on the Abu Dhabi service. Furthermore, the Serbian carrier is finalising a codeshare agreement with Etihad’s equity partner, Air Berlin, on flights to the United States.
