the wing should have the same picture on the engine side because it makes it more better not an unprofessional design on the engine... they could do better on the engine paint

Anyone heard of any new cargo facilities coming to BEG? Maybe with this new expanded Air Serbia we can expect more cargo activity. Where is the South East Europe base for DHL, UPS, FedEx and other couriers? Maybe BEG can now grab some of that business.

^

That's 6%+ boost in terms of passenger numbers, and 10% boost in terms of aircraft movements. Not a bad summer.

Air Serbia reveals fleet plans
Air Serbia’s fleet to grow up to 24 aircraft by 2016

Air Serbia has revealed plans for its future fleet which will be based around narrow body Airbus jets and regional turboprop aircraft. While government officials previously announced that two leased Airbus A319s would enter the fleet this month, the airline’s new management says the two aircraft, which will feature the Air Serbia livery and cabins, will enter service on October 1, with a further eight progressively entering the fleet until the end of the year. The aircraft will have a layout of 138 economy class seats and further eight seats in business class. The jets will carry out a total of four daily rotations, ensuring maximum utilisation.

Air Serbia is expected to place an order for ten aircraft from the Airbus A320 family later on this year for delivery by 2015. The airline will finance the aircraft through a financial bank loan which will be guaranteed by Etihad. In addition, while it has previously been stated that Dash aircraft are likely to replace the ATR fleet, the management is now considering replacing the ATRs with the newer generation ATR72-600s. Initially three ATRs (owned by Jat) would be replaced while the other two will be replaced once their four year lease is up. Current medium term plans outline that the Serbian carrier will have a fleet of up to 24 aircraft by 2016, with fourteen to sixteen narrow body jets and an additional six to eight turboprops planned.

Jat Airways pilots and cabin crew will begin training for the new aircraft in October. Pilots will undergo training at both the Etihad and Air Berlin training centres, which will take up to 24 days. Cabin crew members will undergo a week long training course in Belgrade. By the end of 2013 the entire crew will be able to work on the new aircraft. The first set of crew members have already been selected for training. The first two Airbuses will be piloted by Etihad staff until late October.

From what I heard, they will operate out of terminal one. We will have to wait and see, but I am sure the management will be looking to invest more money on top the 50 million euros that's being invested this year.

Qatar is adding one extra flight on Wednesday in order to beef up their time table for BEG to compete with Etihad and FlyDubai. That would be their 4th weekly rotation via Ankara.

Belgrade Airport breaks passenger record
Busy summer as Belgrade Airport prepares for Air Serbia

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport recorded solid growth in July and saw its busiest day in history at the start of August. For the month of July, the former Yugoslavia’s busiest airport welcomed 432.780 passengers through its doors, up 5.6% on the same month last year. The number of operated flights also increased significantly from 4.677 last year to 5.123 this July, representing an increase of 9.6%. After a poor start to 2013, the airport’s numbers are steadily improving. Nikola Tesla Airport handled 1.939.823 passengers in the first seven months, an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period last year.

August should prove to be another busy month for the airport. With 17.026 passengers welcomed, Belgrade Airport saw its busiest day in history on Friday, August 2. With nearly all flights operating to full capacity last Friday, the airport also handled thirteen charter flights and forty general aviation flights. So far this year, Jat Airways remains the busiest carrier operating to and from the airport with a 39.2% share of all passengers. It is followed by Wizz Air at 11.5% and Montenegro Airlines with a 7.5% passenger share. Wizz Air has seen the greatest passenger growth from the airport so far this year, while Germanwings’ numbers have been hit hardest.

Meanwhile, the Serbian government approved the financial lease of ten Airbus aircraft for Air Serbia yesterday afternoon. The lease, which will be partially financed by the Serbian government, includes the arrival of two aircraft next month, which will be in service in October. Belgrade Airport says it is expecting a major boost in passenger numbers when Air Serbia launches new destinations this winter. “With a modern fleet, international management team, world class reputation which Etihad Airways brings, but also the long tradition of our national carrier, we expect a lot more business”, Belgrade Airport CEO Velimir Radosavljević says. He adds the major upgrades and investments taking place at the airport will ensure Air Serbia will have the best facilities for its operations.
