Wow, TB! It certainly picked up after I left. I was there from 7 to about 9. It was starting to get too crowded to take photos and crowds are just not my thing. It was fun tho!

I rushed over after work and only caught the last half hour.... the rain started to fall the very moment the show ended at 11pm. I wished I could have been there
earlier, as 1/2 hour is not enough time to capture the great costumes....

great party, too bad it ended too early, is it because of some city law?

City ordinances (in all Canadian cities) proclaim that loud outdoor music, etc.. must cease at 11pm. After that point, the outdoor show wraps up, and everyone goes into the bars to continue the evening, or just lounge about on the sidewalks. Also, as predicted by the weather channel that afternoon, it started to rain at 11pm
on the nose!

That parking lot at the bottom of the picture, I always walk by and think 'what a great property'. Not only is it huge, but it stretches from Queen to Shuter (I believe), a great location. Has anyone ever heard rumors of development?

Spire really does make an impact.

Good question North Yorker. You'd think whoever owned that lot would be begging a developer to buy if off of them.

How about 1 60 storey tower, and one 20 storey tower? I would rather have that...

Thanks for the info, seems like it could be alright if the exterior is impressive. Still, would have liked to see a project with some special significance, the lot is begging for it.

I had great fun this past weekend photographing the wonderful Elgin/Wintergarden theatre downtown here in Toronto.. it is the only double decker theatre still operational in the entire world. Check here if you are interested in seeing more pictures, and please leave a note to give the thread a bump! Thanks!
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...334362&page=45

a few of what you will see:

and the Wintergarden upstairs:

and two lobby shots from the Canon Theatre up the street:

a night shot of the Royal Alex on King Street:

and the much more modern Princess of Wales theatre:

and other random stuff:

We are lucky to have three or four wonderful old grand theatres in Toronto, when so many in other cities were bulldozed in the name of Progress. Check it out!!

Thanks! Follow the link for more pictures, and also in the summer I did a phototour of another 100 year old local theatre The Royal Alexandra! It is a miracle that these theatres did not get ripped down like so many others did.
