I know those wikipedia lists. U're not the only one who knows how to type wikipedia, yaknow.

The point is, the Georgia Dome is still a DOMED, NON-RETRACTABLE-ROOF ARENA, exactly like what the new PA is hoping to be, but it is an 80,000+ capacity arena in a big sports event, probably in a Manny Pacquiao event, if you want to push the envelope.

I don't care what those 3 companies say. I have more important things to do with my time than spend it on listening to their BS which I know they just slanted to please their client, the Philippine INC.

It's you who are stuck on semantic labels and deviating from the issue. You can't see beyond the hair on your nose. A nose is a nariz, an ilong, a proboscis...however you want to call it...but it's still a nose. DUH!

“Hair-splitting” as in dulia, and hyperdulia?

It's not my problem if you cannot distinguish between an arena type and a stadium type. Regardless of the name of the high- capacity facility, there is a distinction between an arena type and a stadium type.

I mentioned the Araneta Coliseum because it is an arena type. Obviously, the Azkals need a stadium to play soccer in.

The Wembley Stadium is different from the Wembley Arena...

Wembley Stadium

Wembley Arena....

The Georgia Dome is a stadium...

The Dallas Cowboys Stadium...is a stadium...

The Rose Bowl is a stadium...

The O2 Arena... is an arena.

The Madison Square Garden is not a garden... It's an arena...

The nose may be called proboscis but the proboscis isn't always a nose. For some types of animals such as mosquitoes, it's a mouth-like appendage they use for sucking blood or plant juice.

Granted, an arena and a stadium are the same banana, even without the title “World's Biggest Domed Arena” the Philippine Arena is still going to be one awesome venue that we, the members of the INC will be sharing to our fellow men. Ah yes, the NEU Stadium too that will be rising next to the Philippine Arena.

amen brother! Amen! I can't understand how can't he comprehend the difference between the two. It is clear from the pictures the difference between the two. a stadium usually has a larger center stage wherein matches for football, soccer can be played. While arena has a center stage that can cater basketball, tennis or the like only.

WOW! There will actually be an indoor arena and an outdoor stadium to be built at the same location, now which one has the 50K seats...Finally, a brand new football, basketball and concert venue !

Guys, just leave this idiot fellow Knitemplar wander. Pretending to be all knowing bitter person who is desperate in life. Actually he should not say such nasty comments since he has no contribution even a single cent for the construction of these infrastructures.

Well, since he dislikes this Arena, then let him design and build his own arena or stadium whatever even bigger than this or even the biggest in the universe. there is nothing wrong with it.

To be accurate, Knitemplar has issues with the claim "World's Biggest Domed Arena" while Kriscojuangco has issues with the "design" and name "Philippine Arena".

@ Manilaboy45- The arena will be 50,000-seater. The NEU Stadium's seating capacity hasn't been announced yet. I'm hoping it'll be huge so we can have an alternative venue for our country's budding football sport.

Thanks! Can't wait for that announcement to come out, hopefully it will be at least a 30K seat stadium which would be within the FIFA standards...

This must be highly embarrassing for the Filipino government who are unable to finance even 1% of this development, yet a church is able to finance the whole project for the nation instead.

Shame on the useless and corrupt government.
Praise for the Iglesia Cristo!

Again, this project is amazing because it's being built here in the Philippines. Whether it serves other people's interests (i.e., a stadium for the Azkals, a SEA or Asiad Games Stadium) is IRRELEVANT because this is an INC project. They are building it because it will serve their group's needs.

Kudos to our sisters and brothers in the INC.

agree

If the church is financing the whole of this massive project,
surely the least the government could do is finance a rail or tram connection from the Philippine Arena to MRT North Avenue for example (apx. 8 miles) – or is the government too corrupt as well as incompetent even to plan and finance such a transport link for its people?

BM is our partner. Im' not sure if they have done an arena. Here's a theater they did which is quite interesting:

You might wanna checkout some sports facilities currently being built in Korea:

We should still be at least thankful to INC for this project.

Well, based on his behavior in the other threads, he is virulently anti-INC. The design doesn't matter for him.

The design of the PA is based on a scale model and you are comparing it with computer renders. Based on projects, I believe Populous is in no way inferior. I'm sure it would have looked better when the computer generated renders, just like you're showing now, are done or better yet when the project itself is finished.

Here are some projects by Populous...

Amway Center
Orlando, Florida
capacity: 18,500

Anaheim Convention Center
Anaheim, California

ANZ Stadium
Sydney, Australia
capacity: 80,000

Leeds Arena
Leeds, UK
capacity: 13,500

Aviva Stadium
Dublin, Ireland
capacity: 50,000

Pepsi Center
Denver, Colorado
Capacity: 21,000

Taipei Dome
Taipei, Taiwan
capacity: 40,000

Taipei Arena
Taipei, Taiwan
capacity: 15,000

Sprint Center
Kansas City, Missouri
capacity:18,500

O2 Arena
London, UK
capacity: 23,000

Wembley Stadium
London, UK
capacity: 90,000

baka mas magaling siya sa Populous

ang simple ng design? let us wait for the the animation of the Philippine Arena

i know Populous will bring their experties on this project

Mr. Chris Sparrow|Buro happold

"...This would be a magnificent project that we are going to construct here and BURO HAPPOLD is honored and privilege to be a part of this construction.
the roof will span some hundred and sixty(160) meters which is about one and a half of soccer pitches...

...the roof will contain 9,000 tons of steel works, all the steel works will brought here from outside of the Philippines probably from Korea, it will be assembled here at this particular site(ciudad de victoria) in bits and then will be erected upto its final position 60 meters upto the air from where we are now standing so about fifteen stories high and be a major building..

...the building will be founded on piles, piles are now being constructed, they will be taken down..so the building will be safely founded on pile construction,.
one of the biggest challenge we found on this particular project was designing for earthquake loads.. and we'll be designing this building for about a third of the deadload of the building, we will be designing for the horizontal loads for the building..

...the building will be fully airconditioned, it will be the average temperature with 25 degree centigrade which is world class standard for comfort..
i think its a fantastic team that we are involved in and we really look forward to making this a world class project.."

Mr. Andrew James/ Structural Design Consultant

It's such an ambitious project and so unussual... and great, it will be really exciting.. no one has done this before, no one has designed 50,000 seats in a bowl.. i wanna go and see what it feels like.. to look around and see many people all seating there....

The stage is at one end w/c is different from most arena buildings where the stage is on the middle of the building that's because it will function primarily as an auditorium....so everybody will be focus on one point rather than on a game in all around....

It is one sided so its totally unique in terms of viewing, size, and atmosphere for indoor events......The floor area at the middle is big enough to cater for tennis, basketball and gymnastics so this building can be used if the Philippines chooses to bid for SEA Games or Asian Games......this building could be one of the key pages of the bid for that game.. it may be used for opening and closing ceremony as well its like to be the biggest building of the Philippines has..

For conclusion,I just wanna say its probably the most exciting and ambitious project that we know of in asia, certainly the largest building of its kind and the fact that it will be the centerpiece for whole new city, for whole new community makes it one of the most important.. and possibly be the largest and most important building in whole of the Philippines for ten years or more ..

Agree. It should look good in "metal". It's still a pity no decent 3d visualization was presented. There should have been a walkthrough/flythrough. The arena looks like a huge cyclist headgear which is dynamic. I like what they did on the stadium.

So that's why you've been playing dumb and trying to deflect my valid point. You are an INC. Well, no wonder. So much for credibility and logic.

So that's why you need pictures-- to remind yourself of what is and what isn't a stadium/arena. Duh! I already told you previously.

Jeez, how dumb can some people be? Totally brainwashed by the Ka Manalos. In the bolded segment above, it is NOT granted. Indoor stadia are ARENAS; outdoor stadia are stadia. Which is why the Georgia Dome is BOTH an arena and a stadium. It says "Dome," doesn't it? And the Philippine Arena is going to be a domed structure, right? Where does it say that an "arena" only seats 55,000 and it becomes a stadium at 75,000 even though it is "domed" as the Philippine Arena is called? DUH!!

#2 - Re Madison Square Garden -- you forgot to mention that it's NOT SQUARE.

So how much have you given of your earnings to this medium-sized stadium? (Which is great for the Philippines, but please don't lie like nearly all the Phil. leaders.) No wonder I never trusted the INC before.

They need to teach basic logic at your iglesias, friend. Amen.
