Kwara, Coy to Construct N3 Billion Shopping Mall

Mustafa Abubkar

2 December 2009

Quote:
Ilorin — Kwara State Government and a foreign firm have concluded deal to construct a N3 billion ultra modern shopping Mall for the comfort of her citizenry in the state.

To be located in the state capital, Ilorin, the state's Commissioner for Information and Communication, Ben Duntoye, who disclosed this in a chat with Daily Trust, added that it is the decision of the state's Executive Council.

"Government is partnering Persianas Investment Limited, a foreign firm on the construction of the mall with equity share of about N500 million, which include land in the construction of the ultra modern shopping mall".

Meanwhile, the commissioner also disclosed that the state government has also approved another N1.2 billion for the procurement of equipment for the state's Advanced Diagnostic Centre, which is also to the built in Ilorin.

Speaking further on the centre, the state's Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Oladimeji Hassan, said the procurement of the equipment was contracted to Medquip Medical Service, which would also render technical management before the state government takes over the centre.

Good project, but Persianas is not a foreign firm. That's Tayo Amusan's shop, that built The Palms and is developing the Polo Park Mall in Enugu.

I just think this goes a loong way to show that being predominantly Islamic as a Nigerian state, is not in any way an excuse for violence or keeping your people in abject poverty.

Kwara if I am right should be at least 70-80% Islamic,
Boko Haram are just a bunch of un-employed Thugs with no education.

This is probably U/C by the way, it seems most malls that are proposed these days in Nigeria are built, most of the ones that aren't built are the ones in Abuja but even that's changing.

but I can't confirm that.

I read in the retail news thread that the shoprite planned for the mall will be opened by December 2011.

Yes I know it looks bad, but in any case, let us wait to see the finished product.
