"And Smith must score!!" ah when Brighton should have beaten Man Utd in 1983 cup final! And went and lost the replay 4-0!

In the 80's you'd probably be right. Liverpool on the telly was the best supported club in the land for fuck knows why. Now Liverpool on the telly are neck and neck with Manyoo on the telly with Chelsea on the telly and even ManCity on the telly showing good form. Its repulsive to most Cardiff City fans or indeed most football fans but human nature is very odd. |

Eh? Your lot booted Man United and Chelsea all over the show and invited us in to pubs. Loads of Cardiff come to our games through the year as well.
Looking forward to seeing a few old faces.

You are right that quite a lot of City fans did indeed involve themselves in contretemps with Manyoo and Chelsea (plus others) whilst the big games were at the Milstad. Don't know what happened with Liverpool as I'm a delicate flower and prefer reading to violence.
From the little I do know I think the Liverpool fans came to Cardiff with an open mind whereas the Chelsea/Manyoo dicks came down throwing their weight around - wheres your sheep/third world country/Welsh cunts blah blah blah. Exactly the same shite we get in Mansfield, Hereford, Bristol Rovers etc. By appearing to have a modicum of respect the Liverpool fans may have discombobulated the local knuckle draggers resulting in a Scouse/Taff entente cordiale. But I'm talking about the wider south Wales public. During the 80's you couldn't move for Liverpool kits with Crown Paints stretched across huge guts as the twats crowded into saloon bars across the valleys talking cack about Rushie, Barnesy, Kenny etc. Now the modern day twats have widened their net and stretch Manyoo, Chelsea replica shirts across man boobs etc etc. |

Of the big clubs, I'd definately say South Wales leans disproportionately towards Liverpool as opposed to Man Utd, or Arsenal etc. I don’t know why especially, but I think there has always been a bit of a cultural affinity between Cardiff and Liverpool, as docks cities, and even the accents are pretty much the same, well Mars Bar is pronounced exactly the same way in Scouse and Kairdiff accent.
All of it is irrelevant now anyway, because kids in South Wales are increasingly supporting their local clubs and I dare say it’s far more ‘fashionable’ now to wear a City shirt than to wander around in a Standard Chartered shirt, although you do still see a lot around, as indeed you do all clubs, given the diverse population of the city. (a good 15% are English born for example) Anywaaay, the league cup final will be great. Two vocal sets of fans, the Gerrards/Bellamy factor, the clear underdog, the fact Liverpool haven’t won anything for a few years etc. It’ll be a Welsh invasion in London as well, with the England-Wales game at Twickers the day before. I predict Cardiff to win 2-1, with Gerrard getting them both! Last edited by JamesWales; February 3rd, 2012 at 01:35 PM. |

Agreed. My dad is from Cardiff so there is a bit of friendly banter going around. It should be a good game and if Liverpool dont win then fair play to Cardiff. I hope they get promoted.

I knew that north Wales was very scouse biased (for quite obvious reasons), but didn't know that about the south and places like Cardiff.

Over here in Ireland its either Liverpool or Man Utd. So I would'nt be surprised if there was a large Liverpool fan base all over Wales. |
