Cordola Pinnacle 1001 m / 212 floors

Hey guys, this is my design for a 1 km high tower that will rise from the fictional city of Cordola, Carnelia, an island nation in the Pacific. It was designed for my futuristic webcomic 21st Century Coeds (link in my sig) I aim for it to begin construction at the start of the story, and some 1000 pages later, be complete and open. So in various chapters you will see the tower slowly growing in the skyline.

As I spent a lot of time designing the entire surrounding CBD, the tower itself has flat single coloured textures, and minimal effects. In the future I may add them.

The tower is 1001 m to the top of the pinnacle, 873 m to the top of the hexagonal shaft (technically the roof), 770 m to the observation deck, and 610 m to the "neck", the part of the tower where it gets narrowest and starts to grow again. I started to mark the floors but haven't finished. For the first 400 m or so it's offices, then apartments up to 600 m, then hotel up to 730 m. At the base it is 140 m wide.

I designed the tower in 2006, I had only just heard of the Burj Khalifa being proposed and I thought a 1001 m high tower was a long way in the future.

Construction starts in 2047 and is complete by 2050, my explanation for such a quick build time is that they use robots to help in construction that work much faster than humans and 24 hours a day without rest.

There is no symmetry anywhere in the tower - I designed it by carving away chunks and making it look like a crystal tree or something. Hope you guys like it! And if you read my webcomic long enough you might just see it completed in the city!

But you should render and add textures!

One day. . . like I said the tower only appears in background shots, and perhaps in one chapter the characters will visit it on the unveiling. I've been meaning to do elevations/technical drawings for it but always deferred to the comic itself. Oh well. . .
