I'm not excited about this, we would set the standard by hosting it in 2017. We gonna see empty stadiums, watch the space...

Marketing must begin soon. All the stadiums, transportation infrastructure are there the government just needs to encourage the people to watch.

It should be marketed as an African World Cup.
Host Cities Johannesburg Cape Town Durban Pretoria PE (some matches) - highly unlikely it will be left out Bloem (some matches) - perhaps, but usually decent support. |

interesting cities there, although it would be more fun if they gave it to the smaller cities instead, i'm talking about places like Nelspruit, Bloem, Port El, Buf-C...) i think.

Getting crowds in the big cities will be difficult so u can imagine how hard it will be to get crowds in the smaller towns

I share your sentiments...they need to start as soon as the Rugby World Cup is over. I think they will use the following stadiums - 1. Soccer City. 2. Loftus. 3. Peter Mokaba. 4. Mangaung. 5. Moses Mabhida. 6. PE. 7. Cape Town I don't see Rustenburg getting anything.

so now that we officially know that we will host the 2013 event.... when are we likely to hear the 4 venues?
Most likely is surely Soccer City, Moses Mabhida, Greenpoint and Nelson Mandela? or do we expect some surprises and maybe 5 venues? surely they would have pressure to spread it around a bit? Polokwane, Mbombela?

Why not use more than 4? Little Tunisia had 6 venues in 2004.

OR, will they not focus 2013 on the key cities and then the 2014 tournament they hosting now, use for the smaller centres?
