Seems like lots of pics of proposals, construction sites, and photos showing other parts of London beyond Southwark. How many buildings over 100 m does Southwark have presently? Just the Shard?

The Shard, then there's also Strata (147m), Guy's Hospital (143m), King's Reach Tower (111m, with a planned makeover/height increase to 127m)...then there's Neo Bankside at 80m, and quite a few other midrises. Southwark is bigger than you might think it is.

Thank you. So Southwark has 4 buildings over 100 metres? It's a start, but Southwark's got a steep hill to climb:

Btw, is Lewisham part of Southwark or is that another borough?

Well remember it's only a small part of London, so obviously it won't easily match entire cities like Berlin and Frankfurt. But I do agree, it was a bit too early to make a separate thread for Southwark imo, especially when there are a fair few 100m+ proposals for the area (Three Spires, 1 Blackfriar's Road, The Quill student tower etc.) There's a list on the 1st page of this thread, of all the tall buildings Southwark could have if all the current proposals go ahead, although it did miss out a few, so I'll update it:

The Shard (310m)
Spire 1(250m)
Spire 2 (200m)
1 Blackfriar's Road (163m)
Spire 3 (150m)
Strata (147m)
Guy's Hospital (143m)
20 Blackfriar's Road Tower 1 (141m)
King's Reach Tower (127m)
The Quill (110m)
20 Blackfriar's Road Tower 2 (104m)
Then all the >100m midrises such as the Place, Neo Bankside, the Tate Modern Extension etc.

Oh, and Lewisham is a separate borough, directly to the east of Southwark.

Honestly, I didn't think London would ever build skyscrapers but the skyline is shaping up nicely. How many main clusters are there? Southwark, Canary Wharf, and the City?

Those are the main three, then there's also a cluster developing at Vauxhall - the 181m St. George's Wharf Tower is currently rising and there are proposals for several other tall buildings including a double-skyscraper development of a 160m tower and a 200m tower. Croydon in South London could have a nice suburban cluster, it got a 199m proposal recently.

3 clusters and 2 mini clusters then. Not bad. It's similar to how Toronto is developing except the main cluster is much bigger than the numerous smaller ones.

No, Southwark is not a part of the City of London... it's a London borough in its own right.

Sheesh does London really need another Skyline Thread?? I think the City and Canary Wharf should be enough. Or better yet a General London skyline thread and a seperate one for Canary Wharf. Having a thread for every borough in one city is becoming too much IMO.

^ I wouldn't mind that actually - we could start a new one with up-to-date photos of the London skyline as a whole. The current threads don't include the likes of the London Eye and the Orbit in their 'areas' and it lets people rate the skyline in its entirety rather than just segments of it.
