Seems very crowded on the temporary Mataf, how are they managing with the wheelchairs ? Must be very difficult for wheelchair users and non-wheelchair users.
However, so nice to see so much space elsewhere for prayer with the opening of the phase 1 and 2 floors.
May Allah reward all those involved with this huge project, and accept the Umrahs of all the Hajis in this blessed month.

Ramadan Kareem and an early EID MUBARUK to all.

Future vision for the Holy City

Hello, everyone how are you?

I've been following this thread for a while now and thought I'd post something which I haven't come across. Maybe it's in there somewhere, however I thought I will share it.

Below is the blueprint to the metropolis city of Makkah in the years to come

More than 2 million worshippers attend the last session
of reading the chapters of the holy Quran at the Grand Mosque

Makkah, Ramadan 29, 1435, July 26, 2014, SPA

More than two million worshippers attended the last session of reading the chapters of the holy Quran at the Grand Mosque in Makkah today with the ground and underground floors, corridors, lobbies and roofs of the mosque filled to their most capacities with worshippers who flocked from early morning to reserve seats to enable them perform the Isha (evening) prayer and Traweeh (post-Isha), a special prayer throughout the evenings of Ramadan, before taking part in Tahajjud (late night) prayer which witnessed the conclusion of reciting the last verses of the holy Quran as reading the book started on the first night of the holy month.

Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, the Imam and preacher of the holy grand mosque, led the prayers, appealing to Allah Almighty to acquit Muslims from being sent to hell on the day of resurrection and make Muslim countries and their leaders safe and stable.

Despite the influx of worshippers from inside and outside the city of Makkah, local authorities, including traffic, civil defense, health, and public services, have successfully managed their duties in the free-of-charge service of Umrah (minor Hajj) performers and visitors, upon directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense; Deputy Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Second Deputy Premier, Advisor to and Special Envoy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; and the follow-up of Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makah Region.

According to official statements, the health situation is excellent with few worshippers suffering minor health problems successfully being managed by Makkah highly-equipped and highly-qualified medics and so are the traffic and other services.
