Not specially 'beautiful' nor shocking, but it's height will make it become an instant landmark for MTY. The views from there, in the other hand, will be amazing. I'm glad they're definitively putting their money on skyscrapers, an important city needs that kind of buildings.

By looking at the surrounding area. Any chance those pristine green areas be spared? Would be very unfortunate to have that destroyed.

Definitely, Monterrey is probably along with Toronto one of the most active cities in the western hemisphere, just under construction, the city has over 20+ skyscraper, not counting shopping malls, small buildings, nor development plans.

Probably you're referring to the surrounding mountains, right? if that's the case, I cannot assure it. Unfortunately, in the last years some of the greenest surrounding mountains have been suffering deforestation as a result of new developments. For example, a few years ago most people protested because the local government authorized a new development on the mountain just above their neighborhood and the developers cleared all the vegetation there in order to build new streets on the mountain and make room for the new houses. What happened then? in order to calm down people the developers installed big artificial green-colored carpets covering the deforested area so from the distance it seemed everything was ok. Once enough time passed by , they removed the carpets and continued with their development.

Not too many people know, but the surrounding mountains to the South of Monterrey belong to a National Park and it is supposedly forbidden to build any house or building beyond 800 metres over sea level since 1981, but right now you can see new houses and developments being built well beyond that limit...

I'm afraid you repeated the same pics I posted two days ago in my previous post (I just changed the order so as to firstly show KOI's progress and Liu East's then) ... anyway, thanks for sharing, Lego
