Kolkata Lakes & Parks - "Live in The Greens"

A thread specially & only dedicated to the Numerous Lakes, Water bodies & Parks of varying sizes, scattered throughout the Kolkata City area as well as the entire Metropolitan area. This thread will endeavor to concentrate on the upcoming lakes & parks of the city, as well as upkeep & beautification of existing lakes & parks.

Every city has or should have a thread dedicated to its green zones, especially in these times when green cover worldwide is on the verge of decline. So, with a new year's resolution Let's GO GREEN.

P.S. Only concentrate on photos & updates on Lakes & Parks & its beautification. All other forms of infrastructure & cosmetic upgrades for the city to be reported in 'Kolkata Beautification thread' as usual.

One of the biggest ten national lakes of the country, The Rabindra Sarovar has gone immense changes in the form of up-gradation & face-lift, in the past few years. Being the biggest green zone of the city after The Maidan, the Rabindra Sarovar (popularly known as Dhakuria Lakes) is an altogether different story of clean, green, safe & happening spot of the city these days, a complete transformation from the olden days of neglect & poor maintenance.

The Lake area can broadly be divided into 3 zones
Zone I - Golpark to Vivekananda Park stretch
Zone II - Vivekananda Park to Lake Stadium stretch
Zone III - Lake Stadium to the end of Sarat Chatterjee Ave (Rabindra Sarovar Metro Stn).

"The Warehouse by The Lake'' - located at the extreme Southern end of the Lakes (bordering Lake Gardens), it is currently showcasing the top 20 idols of last years Durga Puja.

The recently inaugurated Open-air concert zone "Live-In-Lakes" (A KIT-KMDA initiative). Often gets alive by Musical bands in the evenings.

And Finally, it is coming up at this spot, opposite to CRC & Lake Stadium. With majority of the city highrises & skyscrapers located within a 5-6 km radius of this place, it will be a worthy view.
