Mid-Century NYC: 1945-1980

Great thread and nice photos, but I've noticed something in the pictures of the 1960s, why the streets looked so much better than now, look at the surface of the streets. You barley see a crack or potholes, and no peeled crosswalks !!!

Hardier materials, most of the time. A lot of those materials would be banned in 50 years time. There was also more regular maintenance.

The city looked much better before the 1940's. Do not like this period of architecture.
