170 Spadina Avenue | Proposed | 17 st | ??? m | Downtown

More downtown density infill. I knew this one had redevelopment potential when Blockbuster closed up and with Ackee Tree vacant.

Wallman Architects with developer being Triwin International Developments

(If this proposal turns out to be 20 storeys or higher, I'll move it the hi-rise section.)

I would actually find this tolerable, if they revised it and made a better effort at ground level. Like a 5 storey podium with well defined retail spaces, and have the tower set back.

I much prefer the old design. I'd like it better though if the tower was setback from the podium.

FAD Condos

I like it, the grid windows reminds me a lot of 96 Spadina Ave and other Fashion District buildings.

Are you sure FAD = 170 Spadina? From the rendering it looks like its on the southeast corner where the TD is.

'Fad' Condo? It must be referring to that design fad.

You mean the comb-over roof? They're definitely late to the party for that little fad...

(other than that though, this is a great development)

Yeah, the comb-over roof has been done to death. It would be nice to mix it up a bit.

What is wrong with a roof hat? You'd rather have just an ordinary, flat roof? I'd prefer some really creative spires but I'll settle for an unoriginal roof hat. I figure it's better than nothing.
